Ron Cook: Pirates Lacking Fundamentals

Ron Cook had an interesing column in the PG Friday suggesting that a lot of the woes of the Pirates can't be blamed on McClendon. He said that Pirate baserunning and fielding gaffes should be mastered by the time a player reaches the majors. He's got a point, of course, though we see high school and junior high mistakes all the time made by these super athletes -- on all teams. My response is that I sort of agree, but Lloyd can also manage to put together some of the strangest lineups in recent Pirate history, especially when he decides to rest key people.
