Steeler's Big Ben

What does anyone think of the Steelers giving Ben Roethlisberger a six year deal worth as much as 40 million, and do you think he is next years QB, or sooner??

I think Maddox will start out this year and if the season is not going smoothly, it will be just like 2 years ago when Kordell was pulled from the top dawg down to back up and the new, unknown, well more known than tommy maddox when he emerged, qb, Benzooka.

I think the boy is gonna be a great QB in the league. I just hope that the Pittsburgh community can be patient. From what I hear, he was at Miami of Ohio instead of a bigger school in the first place because he isn't the brightest bulb in the chandalier. If that's true, his grasp of the pro game and the reads necessary to be successful will take some time. I hope I heard wrong, but if it's true, it doesn't mean he won't be good, it will just take some time.

Yeah I agree I think he will make a good QB in the league, he's big, strong and they say he has a very strong arm. And the same...I hope people just give him a chance and give him the time to devolope. I also think he will be next years QB but if things dont go good this year with Tommy Gun I can see him stepping up, because whos left beside him...Charlie Batch...ummm i dont think so.

We need to do the same thing Cincy did. Sit him for a full season, maybe if were killing, throw him in just to get his feet wet, but maddox is definately the starter and he should be.

The vibe from all the sports talk out here on the radio and local news channels is not that way at all. All wanting a good start or Maddox removed from the starting position. and if you can find it, download the new steelers 'Heinz Field mix' its good stuff.

Is it just me or do the Steelers have troubles when it comes to shelling out money... I mean the Redskins and Eagles this off-season shelled out 10's of millions in bonuses.

Eli just got 20 million in signing bonuses the only person to ever get more than that was his brother Peyton.

Well I also guess when your an owner(Dan Snyder) and your...don't quote me on this...the only owner in the NFL making money you have it to shell out

You ask, "9 million - is that it"? He was drafted in the #11 spot and received a bigger bonus than the guy drafted in the #10 slot. I think #10 got an 8 million, and #12 got a 7.25 million, so he should have got between those 2. I don't think the Steelers are shying away from shelling out $$, but rather they are more fiscally responsible than a lot of teams, like Dallas & Washington. Man - what I would do with a tenth of that money to play a game.........
