Friday Night Lights comes out Friday!!!

Who is going to see this one? I get so pumped when these movies are released...

I have read part of the book, but I never finished it. I'm sure I'll wish I had after I see the movie. I'm pretty suprised there hasn't been a topic about this already actually.

Great book! Believe it or not, "Friday Night Lights" was required reading in a DOCTORAL level course I took last year.

Theres been a lot of talk about this one. Hope it lives up to the hype. Personally i can't wait to go see it!!

I thoroughly enjoyed it. I'm garenteeing some will come away saying they didn't like the ending, but I thought it was great. I won't say anything more so I don't give anything away but it was a great movie and DEFINITELY worth the price of admission.

I agree with B1. This is a great movie. If it's not the best football film ever made, it's close to it. It's right up there, perhaps even better, IMO, than "Remember the Titans." That was a great movie too, but I think this one is better written. Billy Bob Thornton, as usual, is fantastic. He's officially taken over the best American film actor crown as far as I'm concerned. He gives the greatest halftime speech I've ever heard. Country musician Tim McGraw deserves an Oscar nomination for supporting actor. All the other actors are wonderful too, especially the main players. Terrific music too. Make it a point to see this movie! If you're currently a player it'll psyc you up for the rest of the season!!! If you're an old player, you'll wish you were 17 again!!!

good movie. things really came together at the end for me. there are some really excellent characters in this movie. the alcoholic father, the silent mini-chris webber (the guy looks just like him), the high school superintendant with the incredibly bad hair style and the entire "evil" team at the end of the game from dallas who made me wonder if i was watchin high school football or a miami hurricanes game....dirty dirty dirty.

two things i was dissapointed with.

1. billy bob thorton i thought was kinda creepy as the heady coach. maybe it is because all i heard before seeing the movie was how great he was and i was just left dissapointed by him. i dont know, i need to see this again to get a good handle on his character/performance.

2. the football scenes had all the big hits you could ask for in movie. that is fine. it gives the movie energy. but when it seems that is all they show until the last game, it loses its appeal. i just wish they would have shown a few more longer football sequences where you can see the players develop on the field.

overall, i think this movie gives a good overall picture of the prep football scene down in texas. a must see.

Good movie, I never dreamed that a town could put that much pressure on high school players to win. It was a hard ending to watch, but it made the movie more real. The epilogue on Coach Gaines help you accept the ending. A definite must see. Did anyone see Ladder 49? Is it as good as the preview looks?
