3rd Debate
3rd Debate
Looked like a draw to me. Way too warm and fuzzy at the end. Too many softball questions for both guys.

Re: 3rd Debate
Yeah I think it was a draw too. Actually I thought Kerry was gonna win this one (even though I'm a Bush supporter) but it wasn't all one way or anything.

Re: 3rd Debate
Not a knockout, I thought Bush did slightly better at labeling Kerry all bark and no bite.

Re: 3rd Debate
Certainly, neither candidate lost any of their hard core supporters. Not sure how many un-decideds were picked up either way. That's the difference in this race.
If Bush would've brought out Kerry's Senate record (or lack thereof) in the 1st debate like he did these last 2, I don't think it would even be close right now.

Re: 3rd Debate
I thought it was Kerry's weakest debate, but doubt he lost any ground. He missed some golden opportunities when talking about jobs. Every time Bush talked about jobs he switched the conversation to education. The question about what would you tell a worker who lost his job to outsourcing.....Bush tells him to go back to school. Meanwhile the worker may very well have a family who needs fed now, not in 3-4 years.
I also thought Bush's answer of homosexuality was odd....he doesn't know if it's a choice? The same with overturning Roe v. Wade....he wouldn't commit to get a judge who would overturn the law?? I thought he was committed to these topics. Could it be he's skirting these issues?

His answer was odd? How so? He is commited to the fact that gays shouldn't marry, that was obvious. Guess what, so is your guy. While I have my beliefs that being gay is a choice, I will admit that there isn't science to prove me right or wrong.
And how about that classy move of bringing up Cheney's daughter. That's dirty politics at it's finest. Then one of Kerry's people (can't remember her name - maybe Mary something) said afterwards that Cheney's daughter was fair game. You've got to be kidding me. And then, when Lynne Cheney said later that she didn't appreciate bringing her kids into it, Teresa Kerry said she must be ashamed of her daughter. These people will stop at nothing. They will say anything and do anything to get back into the White House. Amazing. You sure can't say that the Republicans brought Chelsay into the political arena while Slick Willy was in the White House. A candidates children are left out of it, that's the unwritten rule that Kerry and Edwards both broke.

Re: 3rd Debate
Absolutely, bringing up Cheney's daughter was wrong. He could have made his point without bringing her into it.
I know Bush is against gay marriage as is Kerry. That wasn't the question....the question was if it was a choice. Bush never said it was immoral (or maybe that isn't his stance?) And if he's committed to overturning Roe v. Wade, why wouldn't he admit to making that a criteria when making a nomination for the court? I don't agree with John Kerry on his position at all, but at least he had the guts to admit his position. It seem rather hypocritcal to call Kerry a waffler when GW wouldn't take a stand.

Re: 3rd Debate
He could have made his point without Cheney's daughter, but didn't. But isn't it more offensive (if you're Cheney's daughter) for the President to call homosexual marriage a threat to the family than for Senator Kerry to say that she didn't choose to be gay?
As far as the debates in general, looking at my map in Newsweek counting electoral votes, Kerry pulled a lot closer to Bush now and gained momentum from the debates. If in fact he does get in the White House, it would be from the debates.
