Re: 5/6 AA after week 7
With 2 pivotal games today, the top of the standings are getting clearer, while everyone else is getting cloudy(as to positions).
After last nights games, Bedford is all but assured the top spot, Tyrone #2, and P-O #3(giving the Eagles the round 2 matchup they want).#4 through 8 is real fuzzy. With wins today by FH and PL, it'll be FH #4, Ridge #5, BM will be #6 PL #7 and CC #8. If PL loses CC and PL flip flop #7 and 8. If Westmont knocks off the Rangers, FH drops to #6 with CR #4 and BM #5 and PL #7 with CC and Westmont tied at #8. If PL loses and Wesmont wins, it'll be the same except CC and Westmont will be tied at # 7 with PL on the outside looking in. Week nine looms large and those 2 games today are huge.

Central Cambria currently sits in the #7 spot with 610 points. Even if Westmont defeats Forest Hills tonight, they can only amass 580 total points. While the Hilltoppers will surpass PL with a win, (and a PL loss) they will not be tied with CC after Week 8.

Obviously I didn't spend alot of time studying the point totals and power points, maybe your boys will get to hang on to that #7 spot and a trip to Tyrone in week 10.

Re: 5/6 AA after week 7
Eaglealum,
Sorry if I insulted you in my previous post... I'm insane when it comes to the numbers.
On a different note, I really believe CC will end up the #7 seed, traveling to Tyrone for a first round matchup.
Like I said a few weeks ago, the best matchup in the AA playoffs very well may occur before the championship game. With a handful of battle-tested LHAC teams, as well as Tyrone, the field is stacked this year.
Also, I see that you are looking ahead to a Round 2 clash with the Mounties. Although I'm sure all of the Tyrone players are hoping for this, I really don't see it happening. P-O is an average team, in my opinion... a team that shouldn't have been within 30 points of the Eagles the first time they met. There is no doubt in my mind Tyrone would blast the Mounties if this game would happen again, but I don't see P-O making it out of Round 1 (unless they play Chestnut Ridge). As for Tyrone, they should be pulling for a CC loss to J-Town next week, as well as a PL win over Northern Cambria. I'm certainly NOT insinuating that Tyrone would be afraid to play CC in Round 1, just saying it would be a much nicer opener for the playoffs if they could get PL at home instead of the Red Devils.
Finally, I just wanted to throw out another scenario, as it could occur with an upset this evening.
Westmont must win tonight in Sidman to keep thier playoff hopes alive. If they are able to pull off the upset, they will surpass PL as of today. Westmont will likely win again in Week 9 (Cambria Heights) which will put the pressure on CC to beat J-Town. If CC loses to the Trojans, they would need PL to lose to NC to remain in the playoffs, as the #8 seed (as a 5-win Westmont team would surpass a 5-win CC team). However, try to keep up here, if Westmont beats Forest Hills tonight and CC beats J-Town in Week 9, along with McCort beating the Rangers in Week 9, the Red Devils will move up to the #6 seed and travel to P-O in Round 1. It's pretty much a double-edged sword for CC, as they will have major pressure on them if Westmont wins tonight, but they will be able to move up and avoid Tyrone and Bedford if they can pull off a win over LaRod and the Trojans.
Just a little more info, I promise. Right now, there is no way that McCort will drop below the #6 seed, even if they lose to Forest Hills in Week 9. The Crushers can only move up or stay the same. Westmont and PL can do no better than the #7 seed, with Westmont currently on the outside looking in.
In a system still full of possibilties, here are two guarantees - Bedford will either play Purchase Line, Central Cambria or Westmont in Round 1. The other guarantee - Tyrone will either play Purchase Line, Central Cambria or Westmont in Round 1.
Also, Bedford, Tyrone and P-O will all be guaranteed a home game in Round 1, as long as they win in Week 9 (all three should).
With only one week remaining, you can see that hardly anything has been solidified in AA. Stay tuned...

Re: 5/6 AA after week 7
CRLionDawg,
No, that's not what I said. Chestnut Ridge can still actually host a 1st Round game if they get a bit of help. The Lions need Forest Hills to lose this evening, then have McCort beat the Rangers in Week 9, as well as winning their own game against MoValley next week.
It doesn't look too positive, but stranger things have happened. In my opinion, Chestnut Ridge can beat Purchase Line, and possibly P-O. I think the CR/P-O game last year could have gone either way (even though I picked you to win) and I think the same is true this year.
I'm not trying to be critical of the Lions, but the regular season schedule will hurt them come playoff time. I do realize you don't make your own schedule and I don't think you need to move to another conference, I'm just stating facts. The teams in the LHAC have an advantage over all others in '04 (including Tyrone) because of the overall strength of the conference this year.
Hey, I picked Bedford to lose to McCort last night, don't go by what I say. I hope you guys surprise a few teams and get it done in the playoffs.

Re: 5/6 AA after week 7
Joey, once again, very well thought out and informative post. I would like to offer another view point you may not have thought of due to your own LHAC ties. While that conference is one of the best top to bottom, some may think it's a conference full of "a little better than average" teams that look very competative because they only play each other during the season; while teams like JV and B-A in single A and Tyrone and P-O in AA will fare much better than some up there in the thin air may think. Not trying to be offensive, just offering another way to look at it. We'll all find out in 2 weeks anyway.
