Plaxico
Plaxico
For all here who remeber. Last year I was doubting the skills and motivation of Plaxico Burress, and I would like to formally apologize because all it seems that he needed to improve his game was a pair of wide reciever gloves.

"Some time, Rock, when the team is up against it, when things are wrong and the breaks are beating the boys - tell them to go in there with all they've got and win just one for the Gipper. I don't know where I'll be then, Rock. But I'll know about it, and I'll be happy."
I would like to say that I was the only one that was by his side the entire time, everybody had doubts, not here. There is still a long long way to go, and the next 2 games are huge, but he had an amazing catch in the first quarter in a huge win in big D. Burress will be here long after this contract year runs out...

Re: Plaxico
Burress is having a good year BECAUSE it's a contract year. He's a lazy player that often drops easy catches. I knew he would step it up this year because he's looking for that big pay day. He won't get that with the Steelers, but just watch, whoever does sign him will be disappointed, until his contract is up.

Re: Plaxico
I don't think it has anything to do with this being his contract year. Ben Roethlisberger is a rookie, and it's easier to find a big tall target than a shorter one. I mean, Hines Ward is catching because he's getting open, but if nothing else, throw the ball high to Burress. He's at least 6 inches higher than most secondary players, and has a bit of jump. When he's such a big target, why wouldn't he get balls thrown his way, especially with a QB new to the system?

Re: Plaxico
Ham - not often I do that. I don't expect to have to in this case either.
I'd take Ward over Burress any day of the week. And Burress's year has everything to do with it being a contract year. Mark my words on that. What good is that 6" going to do when the jump ball is never (or seldom) thrown anyway for the black and gold. When's the last time you seen it?

I've got to go with ham on this one. Ben is the QB of the future in Pittsburgh. You have to keep his favorite target. Plus I don't think Randle El is a #2 receiver. We need both Burress and Ward.

Re: Plaxico
i am with LP on this one. a few years back i thought burress was undoubtably better than ward b/c of his physical attributes. they both proved me wrong. burress is a decent number 2 option behind ward. he has brought his game this year b/c he wants some green. i am hoping the steelers do not resign him unless he comes a good value b/c this year will be his peak season. they need to make sure the resign kendrell bell at good value prior to any talks w/ burress. if they could somehow get both and still have flexibility under the cap, then i am all for it.

Re: Plaxico
He has a quarterback that throws him the ball more than Maddox did. That's why he's putting up the numbers. He is a good wide receiver when he wants to be. It's just when you go a possession without throwing to him. He throws a fit.
