"Toof N Nail Show" Week 13

Post by Toof N Nail »

We're back again, folks, and as always I am your host Russ Longevity. Welcome to the Toof N Nail Show. I am here along side Senior NCAA Analysts The Ancient Enemy and DeBiceps. You know the routine, I pose the questions and they answer them. But first, here is a very special Thanksgiving photo sent in by Justin Cimba, Pitt student and friend of the show.

Re: "Toof N Nail Show" Week 13

Post by The Ancient Enemy »

Thanks, Dexter. I am proud to be here today on this Thanksgiving, ready to eat turkey and give thanks to the pilgrims, who were all very nice to the Native Americans. There's many lies floating around about Thanksgiving, and about our God-given right to expand westward. The biggest lie is of course that we killed the Indians and lied to them. I assure this is untrue. We gave the Indians many things, such as water, religion, oxygen, land, sweaters, ice cream, movies, and even named sports teams in their honor. What we didn't give them was a hard time, or smallpox. The Indians gave us things that we did not need but took anyways to be nice. They supposedly gave us food in our time of need. How do you know? Were you there? My friend tells me everything, and Ricky says that his grandmother was on the Mayflower and there was plenty of food to eat. So much for your little history about starvation. I know all about it, my friend tells me everything. While we were chatting the other night online (cause he lives in Oregon and we can't hang out, duh) he told me that the weather wasn't even bad when the settlers came over. He told me winter didn't even start happening until after the Civil War. You have to question things, that's what I learned in life. Don't just accept what you hear as being truth. Ask your friends about stuff. That's why it's good that God decided on me and Ricky being friends, cause he knows all kinds of stuff and he tells me everything I would need to know. Ricky has a lot of knowledge because he's single and 57 years old. This is a picture of the first Thanksgiving.

ISSUE VIII: NOVEMBER 27TH, 2004 EDITION:
============================

- Give some notes on last weeks games

First off, congrats to Ron Turner getting FIRED. It's about time. Also, congrats to San Jose State for firing Fitz Hill . Anyone who hires a guy with that name deserves all the losses that accompany it. Way to go, Spartans. Now you know why you're the worst football team in the universe. Penn State defeats Michigan State, in Zack Mills last game as a player. Zack played his tail off, and went out with a bang. South Carolina and Clemson ended in a bout of the fisticuffs. Holtz's final game is forever marred, but don't discourage. The bunch at the end of that brawl made it all worthwhile, as a guy from Clemson gave a Gamecock player a very warm knuckle induced send-off from Death Valley. Iowa State wins again. What can I say? They earned their division title, I guess. Ohio State beat Michigan, and everyone got a 500 dollar handshake from Jim Tressel, followed by a bunch of Gee whiz you sure played a dandy game, son by Tressel. Navy put a battleship-sized whipping on Rutgers. Iowa showed Wisconsin the exit, Florida beat FSU and no one cared, and Washington State beat Washington in the Apple Bowl . Hold your tongue and say Apple and you'll see what I call those two atrocious programs.

Image
"Oh, Peanuts, play that clarinet! Play it some more!"

- Who is the most over-rated team in the country?

Hmmm, let me think here. Yep, it's still Oklahoma, once again, for the 20th straight week. Bad pass defense, over-rated offense that scores points on teams with less than a minute left and already up big. Add that to the fact that Bob Stoops is sweating up a storm because he knows Auburn is way better than OU. I pray, folks, I really do. I pray that OU plays USC, so that I witness what a stampede looks like first hand. USC will beat OU by 185 points.

Image
"What kind of a question is that? OF COURSE I vote in the AP poll!" Special Note: I would love to watch Idiot McGruff try to put those shotgun shells in that revolver.

- Under-rated?

You can argue you all want, but it's Alabama. They're the best 6-5 team in NCAA history. Alabama has a wonderful defense, and they did exceptionally well this season without their star quarterback and starting tailback. I am hoping for big things from the Tide next season, and they'll win their bowl game.

Image
I don't know who this yayhoo is, but he definitely came up when I typed in "underrated". I'll take their word for it. Also coming up: a picture of Harry Truman. I can name you two cities that would argue that Truman isn't very under-rated.

- Conference Outlooks

This is gonna be a blast.

ACC: They keep talkin' about Tech, Tech, Tech. Listen. Virginia Tech won't even beat Virginia this weekend, let alone Miami. They have the two best games on their schedule yet. Miami will win the ACC. Get it through your heads. NFL Coral Gables is the greatest program in college football history.

Image

Big East: Boston College has to beat Syracuse yet, and in case you have been in a cave for the past 50 years, BC is very inconsistent. They will not beat Syracuse, because that's what BC does. That's how they roll. WVU has to play Pitt tonight, and I am taking WVU in a close game. I still think WVU gets that very undeserved BCS bid. Pitt will go bowling, but they have another tough test next week as well. Rutgers I hope loses the next 70 games.

Image
"I LOVE RUTGERS."

Big 12: The real success story is Iowa State. The Big 12 north is so completely and utterly pathetic that IOWA STATE will win the north this weekend. Iowa State is not any better than they usually are. Everyone else is reeeeeediculous. This is like WVU and Syracuse and BC and Pitt all playing bad and Temple going to a BCS game. Imagine that for a second. Other than that, Oklahoma will of course win the conference, but A&M will beat UT this weekend.

Image
"What is that you said, candle? You will learn to keep your mouth shut."

Big Ten: Michigan and Iowa have already split the championship. Congrats to the following: Purdue, and Wisconsin, for proving yet again why both of those programs are dogcrap. Joe Tiller and Barry Alvarez will NEVER win a BCS game, or even a Big Ten title ever again. The whole quality of the Big Ten was down all season.

Image
"What? Hello? Who's there? You'll have to speak up, I'm trying to weigh a doiley."

Conference USA: Although I have given Southern Mississippi the nickname Southern Missile , that did not get the result I had hoped for, which was of course an 11-0 season. No, friends, sadly USM has 4 losses already and a potential for 2 more. Louisville, on the other hand, is ready to show everyone why Boise State and all the rest of those mid-major schools should never deserve a BCS bid. Louisville will move on to a conference with a guaranteed bid, but not before hanging 50 on Boise in that bowl game.

Image
"I'M BACK."

Mid-America Conference: Well... I guess I owe the world an apology for hyping Bowling Green as much as I did. In my own defense however, if you want to get technical, I DID say their OFFENSE was great. Defense, I guess... yeah, they had a little bit of a meltdown this week in Toledo. The MAC is a solid conference, and the championship of 04 is already determined to be Toledo vs. Miami Ohio. Miami Ohio is a very good team, and I'm looking for them to pull it out against Toledo. Many MAC teams will be bowling this year, as boels scramble to fill holes from Utah and Souf Carolina and Clemson and whoever else. I heard 4-6 teams from the MAC might get bowl bids. That would be nice. Who am I lying to, I really don't care one bit.

Image
"Just what I always wanted. A piece-a crap!"

Mountain West: I'm not even wasting the energy to type anything about this terrible conference except that Utah is awesome.

Image
"When I was a little girl, I used to rub my bottom on a radiator just like this one."

Pac-10: USC will win it, obviously. The problem is Cal. The only real team they beat was Arizona State, and it's debatable if they're even considered a real team . Cal is very good, but they have a pretty weak resume. ASU will get a bowl bid someplace, and no one cares. Or should.

Image
This picture was tagged "Dad in his Christmas sweater". I think that pretty well says it all.

SEC: Auburn vs. Tennessee. Auburn will beat another decent opponent and continue to be screwed in the polls. This is the best conference in football, and an undefeated team running that gauntlet should NEVER get slighted by a Pac-10 team OR a Big 12 team. What a joke.

Image
A Christmas is never complete in the Gustafson house until Tom Brokaw reads a card over your shoulder.

Sun Belt: UNT wins again and no one cares. That's what happens when you win a conference full of Arkansas State and Idaho. Great job Can't wait till next year when we welcome in new D-1A powerhouse Florida International. Then things will really pick up.

Image
"Why don't you try pushin' ME around?"

WAC: Boise won, regardless of this weekend. Many people seem to think Nevada can beat Boise, but don't expect a letdown against a very bad Nevada team. UTEP is heading to Conference USA next year, so it is very possible that Boise will once again be champs, in 2005. I'm sure Fresno will play in a bowl, and maybe La. Tech.

Image
"If you can throw a man in jail for liking the movie 'Biker Boyz', then mister I'm guilty as charged."

- Quick Top 10

1. Auburn
2. USC
3. Utah
4. Miami
5. Cal
6. Southlake - Carroll
7. Virginia
8. Oklahoma
9. Texas
10. Iowa

This is the last picture taken of Yukon Steve alive. He would go on to be lost in the wilderness and have to make a raft out of his beard hair to make it back to civilization. Well, Yukon Steve didn't make it, sadly. But his beard did. And it is on display right now in the Beard Museum which may or may not be located in Wilmore.

- Top 5 Heisman Candidates

1. Jason Campbell (Auburn)
2. Cedric Benson (Texas)
3. Timmy Chang (Hawaii)
4. Zack Mills (Penn State)
5. Robbie Gould (Penn State)

- Upset of the Week

Syracuse over Boston College.

Image
"How's life? How do you think it is? My dog brought home all this weed today. Way to go, Buster. Somebody will be eating from the table tonight."

- Relative of the Week
This week's relative of the week is Aunt Carol. According to the internet, this is a picture of Aunt Carol. She is hugging the Stanley Cup, which she earned through a very successful year of teaching middle school science in Virginia. Way to go, Aunt Carol. You earned it.

Image

- Who is the worst program in the country

It saddens me that this is the last hurrah for 2004. I don't want you to have to worry. Next season, I promise you East Carolina will be just as pathetic as they are right now. Thompson getting fired is the best news I heard all season, because it virtually guarantees at least one mor eywar of terrible football at ECU. You did it, guys. You outlasted all others and you earned the 2004 award for worst team in the solar system. Congratulations.

Image
"Go Pirates. God, I freakin' love you guys."

- Give Homage to a Country-Western Singer

Image
Fear him.

I asked her, "What's a woman like you doing here?
I can see you're used to champagne but I'll buy you a beer."
She said, "You've got me figured out, but I'm not what I seem.
And for a dance, I'll tell you 'bout these tight fittin' jeans."

Respect him.

- Pitt / Penn State Weekend Outlook

Lions are very done. Pitt has WVU this week, and although Pitt has been playing well, I am going to take WVU. They are playing for a BCS bid, and for that reason alone I'm taking WVU. But make no mistake, neither of these teams deserve a BCS opportunity.

Image
Welcome to the Terrordome.

- Give a Few Weekly Awards

Image
Flava Flav "Don't Believe the Hype" Award, given weekly to the D-1A player who is completely over-rated.

"What time is it? Yeaaaaahhhhhhh booooyyyeeeeeeee. This week's special selection comes from none other than the inbred capital of the universe, boyee. That's right, it's Rasheed Marshall, QB of the faulty Mountaineer offense. Don't... don't don't don't... don't don't don't... don't don't don't believe the hype!"

Image
Week 13: Rasheed Marshall - QB - West Virginia

Image
Alphonso The King of Texas presents the "Alphonso's King of Texas" Award, given weekly to the best D-1A player in Texas:

Image
Week 13: Cedric Benson - RB - University of Texas: Benson is the best running back in college football, and should be given the Heisman. Will he get it? No. Will he be the most successful Heisman candidate post college? You better believe it.

- You Have 5 Sentences, Go
It has taken a very long time to complete this post. I ate a lot of pie and some mashed potatoes a few hours ago. I drank a Milwaukee's Best and hated it. Rolling Rock Green Light is the best beer I drank this week. I got into an argument today because I said Jada Pinkett-Smith was extremely hot.

Bonus Senetence:

I'm right.

Re: "Toof N Nail Show" Week 13

Post by DeBiceps »

Well, thanks for having me, and let me be the first to say that i am HONORED to be answering questions thought up by the esteemed supreme court justice, Thurgood Marshall. Mr Marshall, it is my pleasure to be here. Now, before we get into the nitty gritty, may i applaud Bobby Bowden for saying, "you need to be fired to make a call like that" in reaction to Ron Zook going for it on forth and short from inside his own 30 with the game clock winding down. you're the man, bobby. Now, on with the show..

- Give some notes on last weeks games

Well lets start off with this one.. PENN STATE WINS! PENN STATE WINS! That's right.. the lions are on an official winning streak by beating IU and Michigan State in consecutive weeks.. Florida beat Florida State, and i'm out 5 bucks to gators_own_u. Thanks Ron Zook.. You idiot. How about winning games when they MATTER. Clemson and South Carolina had a little rough housing, and Mr Spurrier accepted his post at the head spot of the gamecocks for next season. Ohio State beat Michigan, but no worries, Cheese Wis U dropped the ball again, paving the way to a shared Big Ten title they ARENT a part of and a Rose Bowl bid for Michigan. Atta Badger

- Who is the most over-rated team in the country?

OOOOOOOOOHH U! Yes that's right, it's the Sooners again, as they beat Baylor and the voters grovel at their feet. I cant wait till bowl season

- Under-rated?

I'm going to go with a different SEC team here, LSU. The Tigers are getting no love from the polls, but keep in mind they only have 2 losses and play the same grueling SEC schedule everyone is making such a big stink about. Kudos, Nick Saban.. Cant wait to see you fail in the Big Leagues

- Conference Outlooks

ACC: Virginia Tech and Miami will decide the conference.. and what happend last time Miami played a game to decide the conference? Oh yeah, they SHUT DOWN the "best player in the game" (mr larry fitzgerald) and ran the ball all over the field with a Payton who's first name ISNT Walter. Gore and Moss are ready to punish any and everything in their path

Big East: A WVU loss to Pitt and a Boston College loss to syracuse puts the big east in something like a 4 way tie. Dont count on it. Boston College gets their first and what will be ONLY bcs bid in school history

Big 12: OU versus whoever. Whoopdeefreakingdoo. The Sooners will play for the national championship and get demolished

Big 10: Already decided, as Michigan and Iowa split the title. Michigan won head to head though, and gets the Rose Bowl bid. At least they're going into that game with some momentum.. NOT!

C USA: Once again, all i gotta say is Louisville

MAC: Miami Ohio vs Toledo for the title there. One would say you have to go with Miami, as they've been on FI-YAAA! as of late. Toledo beat BG, yes, but keep in mind bowling green was NOT in their oranges and DID squander a 20some point lead they owned at the half. RedHawks soar

Mountain West: Utah

Pac 10: Somehow, some way, 2 of the top 5 teams in the country come from this conference. If Cal doesnt get a BCS bid, the system should be destroyed

SEC: Auburn and TenAKey to square off in HOTlanta for the title.. Of course it's gonna be auburn, as any chance UT had is gone with the injuries they have suffered this season

Sun Belt: and for my last two word conference outlook. North Texas. The Eagles are swoopin all over their conference competition, but are about to be plucked and stuffed come bowl time

- Quick Top 10
1. USC
2. Auburn
3. Cal
4. Utah
5. Miami
6. Virginia Tech
7. OU
8. Texas
9. Boise
10. Michigan

- Top 5 Heisman Candidates

1. Cedric Benson, Texas
2. Reggie Bush, USC
3. Timmy Chang, Hawaii
4. B.J. Symmons, NFL Practice Squad
5. Aaron Rogers, Cal

- Sidekick's Pick of the Week

Kid Carbohydrate called me the other day and left this on my voicemail: WA-TAAAAAWWWW TECH! (which means virginia tech over virginia

- Five guarantees

1. Vtech over Virginia
2. USC over Notre Dame
3. Lousiville over Cincy
4. ASU over Arizona
5. Good over Evil

- Upset of the Week

Pitt over WVU (called it in the picks submitted Tuesday)

- Relative of the Week

This one goes to Uncle Bob. He called me earlier this week to help him with a chore at his house but i wasnt around to answer the phone, thus to make up for it, the award is yours my good man

- Who is the worst program in the country

East Carolina.. and they couldnt be prouder. Cant wait till next year, guys.

- Give Homage to a Country-Western Singer

I refuse to pay any homage to a country western singer.. May the fires of hell scold he who thought of this topic

- Pitt / Penn State Weekend Outlook

The lions, as i mentioned before, closed their season on a two game win streak. The panthers, however play host to WVU in the Backyard Brawl. Spoiler time, Panthers.. dont dissapoint

- Give a Few Weekly Awards

Thank You For Saying That Award:

Bobby Bowden. You crushed the dreams of Ron Zook for your "you gotta be fired" comment. Now i know why dolan loves you so much

Its Way Too Late At Night For Me To Think But I'm Going To Give This Award To Him Because He Wont Win Any This Year and For the Rest of His Life Award goes to:

Timmy Chang, Quarterback of the Hawaii Rainbow Warriors. I love timmy chang, and the fact that his record breaking season is tarnished by a 69-3 loss to Boise and a 70-15 loss to Fresno is heartbreaking. This one's for you, timmy

- You Have 5 Sentences, Go

I'm going to win the Picks contest. Im so happy this post is over. Working Black Friday was very over rated. Dont work at Spencers. I'm hungry
