GJR has an amazing school and sports faciltity they should win states every year its amazing there. and i remember watching old highlight tape of a few years ago when they were unbelievable...guys were either dunkin on punks, drillin' 3's like they were lay-ups, crossin' guys up, or swatting them out da gym....it was honestly off the hook, sorta like the old and1 tapes when streetball was real and not made for tv.

My fondest memories are when The Windber Ramblers got to play them (George Jr. Republic) at the Polumbo Center, in Pittsburgh, Pa. Windber was a very heavy favored "underdog". The place was packed to the rafters with all kinds of people from everywhere. This was thee clash of the night.
New Castle had just got done playing in their (AAAA) game prior to this event. & to this day, I'll never know why they had a (AA) game after a (AAAA) game slated ?? Anyways The Ramblers could do very little wrong & they took it to an awesome George Jr. team who really was bigger than the Windber team. It was something to see the New Castle Fans stay & watch & root for Windber to beat this team from Dist. #10.which they did by "16" points, I think ???
Why you ask would N.C. root for Windber, when they hardly even know where the coal town is from geographical piont of view? because George Jr. played them earlier in the season & beat them. That didn't sit well with the N.C. faithful. So as it was, They became Windber Rambler fans for the night.
This to me, was a high light reel for the memories of high school sports in Windber.

I agree with justdunk it, they have had a few amazing teams in the past. But i went to Franklin Area and my ninth grade year we beat GJR. At our house.....I believe they were 77-0 coming in. We ended up winning states that year (AAA) and we didnt have a player over 6'3" Granted they were a great team, i was at the game and the althletes were incredible. Alley-oops from half court, Each player sharin' the ball, letting everyone play, havin fun...everyone scorin....The way the game should be played. That was a good game
