BASKETBALL High School Boys Bedford 48 Windber 44
WINDBER - John Marshall had 16 points to lead all scorers as Bedford squeaked out a victory over Windber. The Bisons also received 10 points from Derrick Harris.
Matt Wilson's 11 points and Frank Rummel's 10 paced the Ramblers.
High School Girls Cambria Heights 62 Penn Cambria 47
CRESSON - Amber Dubyak scored a game-high 21 points as the Highlanders downed the Panthers. Erin Hoover tacked on 14 points in the winning effort while teammate Jess McMullen added 10.
Loren Capriotti scored a dozen for Penn Cambria while Michelle Farabaugh dropped in 10.
College Women Pitt-Johnstown 66 IUP 56
INDIANA - The Pitt-Johnstown women's basketball team improved to 14-4 with a 10-point win against Indiana University of Pennsylvania on Saturday.
Melissa Patterson led the Lady Cats with a game-high 17 points, including three 3-pointers.
The senior guard needs 29 points to become the 26th Lady Cat to reach the 1,000-point plateau.
Lady Cats sophomore Allison Krischer scored 13 points and junior center Samantha Conner added a dozen points.
Sophomore forward Jessica Zapf collected a team-high nine rebounds for UPJ.
The Lady Cats held a narrow, 28-25, halftime lead.
Pitt-Johnstown forced 18 IUP turnovers and held the Lady Indians (8-11) to 35.9 percent shooting from the field for the game.
The Lady Cats travel Monday to face Davis & Elkins (W.Va.) College.
GOLF PIAA announces sites for championships
The PIAA announced that the Heritage Hills Golf Resort and Conference Center will be hosting the boys championship for 2005-07 while the girls championship will be played at Springwood Golf Club.
Both courses are located in York.
Norman plans debut at Laurel Valley
Greg Norman announced that he will make his Champions Tour debut at the 66th Senior PGA Championship at Laurel Valley Golf Club in Ligonier May 23.
Norman, who will be eligible for the Champions Tour Feb. 10, told the Naples (Fla.) Daily News that turning 50 is "a magical milestone."
Norman is the winner of 68 international titles, including 20 on the PGA Tour.
AUTO RACING Gleason ready to tackle Rolex 24
Chris Gleason will make his eighth start at the Rolex 24 held at Daytona International speedway on Saturday. Although Gleason has raced in many of the prestigious auto races around the world, this will be the first time that he has a factory ride.
Gleason will be one of four drivers taking turns behind the wheel of the Prototype Technology Group BMW M3 No.# 21, on of two such cars sponsored by BMW North America.
Live coverage of the race will begin with its start, at noon, on the Speed Channel.
