A 16 seed over a 1 seed

Post by ham55 »

Will it ever happen? I don't think so, but it almost has to happen at some point right?

you'd think logically it would never happen, but eventually it will. Sometime a number one will have a very off day and a number 16 will play the game of thier lives.

Lol, that would have to be one very very off year for Duke or UNC. It won't happen this year, and it hasn't happened any year yet, but sometime, it might happen.

What about a 15 over a 2? It's only happened four times since '79, but Wake was down by 8 to Chattanooga early on. They pulled it out and won by 15, but it's an interesting prospect.

Does anybody see the score at the half. Illinois 32, Farliegh-Dickenson 31. Wow, what a game so far...

No, Georgetown won 50-49 a while back, Georgetown was a 1 seed, and they were in position to lose at the end of the game. (Very easily could have had the refs not sat on thier whistle) A 16 seed has never beaten a 1 seed in the NCAA tournament...

It would be interesting to research that DePaul upset. They came into the tournament ranked #1 and maybe undefeated. Ended up getting ousted by a lowly opponent.
