2005 NFL Draft
This is a down year for the draft. Many of the top ten picks in this year's draft would be mid to late first rounders in last years, and only one might stay there if it were the same class. But regardless, here's a few things that are likely.
First, the 49ers will likely be taking a QB with their first pick, and the Dolphins will likely take Ronnie Brown with the second. The Browns are interested in QBs as well, but may also take an OLB, such as Derrick Johnson. The Bears are interested in WRs and RBs, and Benson or Edwards would be the pick. Tampa is interested in the same positions as Chicago, and Tennessee may also be considering a QB has a heir to McNair. Minnesota will likely be taking a WR, and Arizona will be looking at RBs and CBs. Those sum up the first 8 picks, but really after the first 3 to 5 spots, any number of things could happen depending on who is available.
The Steelers have the 30th spot, and they will probably be looking at WRs and CBs. Matt Jones is a 6-6 QB from Arkansas with 4.6 speed in the 40, and he is a rapidly rising prospect at the receiver position. He apparently played it well in the senior bowl, and had a good workout at the combine. Marlin Jackson is a Michigan CB that may also be taken here if the Steelers don't like their prospects at receiver. Other positions that may be looked at are DE (von Oelhoffen's heir), Tight end, Guard, ILB (Bell's replacement), and RB (Staley and Bettis have wear on their tires).

Matt Jones wouldn't suprise me as a pick for the Steelers since most of their receivers were QB's in college (Ward and Randle El, and Stewart in his younger years).

and why don't they go get Kordell as well......Roethlisberger did things no rookie has ever done. Yes he may have sucked during the playoffs, but HE WAS A ROOKIE, if it happens again this year then that's another story since he has a year of experience under his belt.

PITTSBURGH STEELERS
You do the same and stop the other childish acts, others might follow...
I wouldn't be surprised to see the Steelers take Matt Jones this year. However, I have yet to hear anything outta the Steelers camp as to what they are possibly going to do. It should be interesting to see whom they decide to take.

Re: 2005 NFL Draft
FleaFlicker Miami doesn't get the second round pick. I mean they do but they gave it up to the Eagles when they took a.j feeley. So the ealgles should get the second round pick and there normal pick.

Re: 2005 NFL Draft
I was talking about the Dolphins first round pick, which is second overall. I didn't realize that they'd given up a second rounder for A.J Feeley, but I was only talking about the first round.
The Steelers seem interested in Maurice Clarett, seeing as they attended all of his workouts. He'd probably go late fourth to early fifth round. Other than that, I don't know, but they need a WR, a DE, and a CB more than likely. So those will determine their draft choices.

Re: 2005 NFL Draft
Well, they did attend all his workouts, and I would say that they did it for a reason. He was overeager to go to the pros, and he got in trouble at Ohio State for ratting about football boosters and benefits, but I am unaware of him getting in trouble with the police or anything. So perhaps the Steelers think that his only problem is attitude, and that can be adjusted. He is a pretty decent sized back, and during his year at OSU, was good at running between the tackles. He is a bit slow, but not quite as bad as an old guy. So the Steelers may be willing to take a chance on him later on. They do like power running backs and pounding it up the middle, which is what Clarett did.
However, all that said, if Maurice had not been so overly eager to go into the pros and stayed 2 or 3 more years at Ohio State, things would be way different. Ohio State might have won another national title in the past couple of years, and Maurice Clarett would probably be mentioned with Carnell Williams, Ronnie Brown, and Cedric Benson as a definate first round back. He has the raw skills, he just needs to work on attitude. Wasn't Burress the same way?
