Strange Occurrences in District 6-AA

Post by Head Roadie »

Can anyone explain how 6-AA girls Long Jump ended in a 3-way tie for the third and final qualifying spot (meaning all three go and they get 5 qualifiers instead of 3) and there was also a tie in the Shot Put for that crucial third place spot? Since the rules clearly state that you go by the second best effort and so on, is it really possible that all three jumpers had "identical" second best efforts or all fouled on their other 5 attempts? Or are our good ole friends in 6 changing the rules to circumvent the system? Maybe there is an explanation, but if so, I would love to hear it.

Duece ,roadie is right. The probailty of a tie in the long jump and shot put is thousnds to 1. After 6 throws and jumps all of the marks would have to be exactly the same, because you go to the next best jump or throw until somebody has a better one.The only way I see that they did it right is unless there is a rule that there 3rd qualifiers include ties, but that is highly unlikely.

Duece2. I think you are posting so much it has interfered with your logic of thinking. Now I no you are guru of track and field but to comment on every post on here especailly football at times cracks me up. No Dist 6 would never do anything like head roadie said. NOT!!!! They are at times interesting in how they do things. ALso we do not allow swearing on bleacher coaches. You used the word b_. Watch your language man as kids look at this site alot.

Back to the topic. If you look at the seedings for the state champioship meet, you will note that there are only 3 District 6 AA girls in the shot put and long jump. They are not bending the rules and sending 4 or 5 athletes. Since the district championship is overseen by PIAA officials, it didn't seem likely that anything "fishy" could occur, but I wanted to be sure before I posted.

So if you need someone to hate, try hating District 6 for not living down to your low expectations of them.
