"Deep Throat" identified

Post by LionPride »

Mark Felt, the #2 guy at the FBI during the Nixon administration, has admitted that he is the source that gave details to Washington Post reporter Bob Woodward. This information ultimately led to the resignation of Nixon because of a "break-in" at the DNC headquarters.

What isn't widely known, and not reported in the media, is that the breakin was orchestrated to do survellience on a person working at the DNC involved in a prostitution ring going on across the street. I will admit that this is a disputable statement. Nixon was not involved with the actual breakin, but rather the cover up of it later. I'm not condoning his actions. He was wrong, plain and simple.

Liddy Letter

What I find astonishing about it now is how the media is portraying Felt as a hero. His entire motive for doing this was because Nixon passed him over to be the FBI director. And he didn't have the guts to come forward until he's 91 years old, 30 years after the fact.

I wonder if someone in the FBI had done something like this during the Clinton administration if the media would be portraying the source as a hero. My money is on the fact that there would be SCREAMS for an investigation and someone in the FBI would be losing their job, not labeled a hero. You can also bet your bottom dollar that it wouldn't have taken the media 30 years to uncover or reveal this source if this was the Clinton administration.

I hardly think "gutless" is the term to apply to Felt. He was taking a big risk with his future by going against the President. What he did was point people to criminal acts committed by the white house. He kept quiet for his own safety. Would someone who testifies in court and then "hides" in the witness protection program be considered gutless? Are people who call the police with "anonymous tips" gutless as well? I'm sure the police would rather have anonymous tips than no tips at all.

What does any of this have to do with the democrats? You're just steering the conversation into "what ifs" to over look the fact that a republican president was guilty of a crime.

I never once said Nixon wasn't quilty. But he was not quilty of the original plan - but instead of trying to cover it up after it was brought to his attention. That was a poor decision, no question about it.

You failed to mention your thoughts on what would have happened if this occured during the Clinton administration, and what the media reaction would've been then.

I'm not going to speculate. It didn't happen under the Clinton admin. It seems that when the Republicans do wrong, the response is "yeah, but it would have been worse under the Democrats!".

Was out in the car yesterday morning. Had channel 6 on the radio. Heard Katie Couric say, "One of history's greatest mysteries has been solved". You're kidding I thought. What could it be? Did they discover how those statues got on Easter Island? What happened to the settlers on Roanoke Island? Did they find Jimmy Hoffa's body? Hitler's? The Holy Grail? My God, did they find the Holy Grail????? no. Jim Felt was Deep Throat. Who cares.

I'm not talking about the administrations. I'm talking about the media hound dogs. Do you honestly believe for one minute they would have let this drop under Clinton? We both know the answer, you just won't admit it.

You're not going to speculate because you know the truth. You can't handle the truth (sorry, couldn't resist that one)!

I'm pretty sure the Roanoke mystery is completely solved. When they came back to Virginia, there were blond-haired, light-skinned members of the tribe. Killed the adults, adopted the children. You know, the same tactic southpaw and LP want to institute for all the Democrat parents out there.

I'm not going to speculate because it's pointless. You have the belief that the media is extremely liberal and there is nothing I can say that you won't scoff at. The bottom line remains is that it was a republican president who broke the law and justice was served.
