Rangers vs the Crushers

Post by footballman4389 »

Once again its a late season battle between the Rangers and the once beaten Crushers. The Rangers have been improving and dominating as of late while the Crushers, with the great leadership of Ken Salem, have apparently not been improving and using the team to the full potential. My pick is FH over McCort 21-14......McCort Defense keeps it close while offense struggles, Crusher QB throws the normal INT's and slow power runners ineffective against the Ranger front.

This is a very big game in the standings for the d6 playoffs.....The winner of this game will most likely secure the second seed with average week 9 games after this one.Loser could possible drop to 4th or 5th even possibly 6th.As we all know last year FH went down to Johnstown and got beat up.. They gave BM a great game for a half but then came out the second half and got demolished. 49-15

This year I feel will be a very close and physical game. Not as many skilled players this year on the McCort team and I feel that will hurt them.
As Forest Hills gets better and better each week BM seems to be falling off a little bit with the poor performance against average Johnstown last week. BM has been able to run almost every one this year in their games...But this week the Rangers D-front will take control of the game. This will be very close and hard fought and if this game would of taken play earlier in the season McCort would have won.

But for this week........FH-24 BM-10

This game will be similar to the 2001 playoff game between these two, except its not at FH, McCort does not have a strong passing game, and McCort loses. I do not see McCort winning this game. Forest Hills is peaking at the right time. My guess is that baily will stack the line of scrimmage and force McCort to pass, just as he did in 2001, except this time there is no Arcurio calibur QB or Shrey/Regula calibur recievers. Also McCort's line is in for a real test. This will be their best test yet, it will be interesting to see how they do. As far as McCort's D is concerned, they are in for a surprise. The McCort DBs have not really been tested, but this week they will be. Rearick will pass all over them. As far as special teams go ,McCort should do well as long as Barbin and Lebda don't run into each other on punt returns (lol had to see the Westmont game) Sorry, Kenny you will lose to Baily this time. Hey look on the bright side though, you will still add to McCort's winning season total whoa whoa. What is it now 40 consecutive winning seasons. Maybe they should start keeping track of a new record, consecutive winning seasons without a district championship (and/or) with Kenny Salem as coach. After they lose this weekend, McCort better hope for a good seed in the playoffs, cus if for some reason they end up with FH again or Tyrone early, and Scotty Lewis is going to wish he stayed at FH!

This is the biggest game of the remaining two weeks on the schedule in D6 AA. The winner will punch their ticket for homefield advantage until they lose or reach the carpet. The loser will have a week 2 matchup at Tyrone...an ugly...ugly place to play.

McCort fans have been somewhat dormat on this board this year...and for good reason. Coach Salem has been underfire for his teams lackluster play, and he can't seem to keep all of his players happy. Ranger fans need to hope this trend continues for at least one more week.

Last year wasn't the case as McCort flat out beat the Rangers in back to back weeks at Trojan stadium. Oh and they remember, and just in case they forgot, McCort made them remember, hey why wouldn't they. In a year when they won NOTHING, at least the beat the Rangers twice.

Ranger fans have been awaiting this week since the loss last year. This game has the most hype of any McCort FH Matchup since 98 when the two teams played in week 9 to decide the winner of the LHAC crown. Usually all games are down to the wire...and I'd expect this one to be no different.

I'll admit at the beginning of the season I was FH's biggest critic. After that week three thumping Bedford gave the Rangers I gave them no chance at this game. But, Don Bailey does what Don Bailey does, and made a lot of good moves in the lineup, and the Rangers seem to be clicking on all cylinders at the right time.

On the other side of the ball things do not seem to be so peachy. Coach Salem seems to have been taken a lot of shots this year not just on here but from around the area. It has been said that he hasn't been able to bring this team with so much talent together, well, he best get it together this week if he hopes to knock off the Rangers.

Enter Ken Salem...if there is one thing he does, and does well, it is beat Forest Hills. In fact, he has pretty much lived off his success against the Rangers.

McCort has struggled this year throwing the football. Which is something they are going to have to do this week in order to be successful. I say it every year, the Rangers need to be able to cover the backs out of the back field in this game. McCort traditionally never stretches the field, they dink you here and there enough to keep you honest. Which is just enough for that big offensive line to blow open a hole for Barbin and Lewis to run wild through. They will get thier yards and break a few runs this week no doubt. Forest Hills just needs to out score them.

Forest Hills have developed into a fairly balenced team. They have been using a steady doses of Will Lazeration, and throwing to the area's leading Reciever Adam Trout. Coach Fetzer tried to double team Trout last week...nice try...but Jake Oswalt stepped up as expected and had nearly 100 yards worth of catches. I am guessing both Trout and Oswalt are going to need to have big games to pull this one off.

This game is going to be a nail biter. Both offensive lines are fairly good. Turnovers will be a huge factor in this game especially for FH. They have been avoiding the big T.O. factor as of late. Lazeration needs to put two hands on the ball this week, as fumbles costed FH the Bedford game, and if they turn it over this week, it will cost them this one too. If FH protects the football, and the line can give Rearick time, he will be able to throw successfully on McCorts untested secondary.

Forest Hills has been playing very well, and honestly, I can't pick against them this week. I have never saw a Ranger team get embarrassed two years in a row by another team. I think Don will pull out all of the strings in this one.

If the Rangers can put up 25+ points they win this game. In the end, look for the Rangers to be in victory formation as the Rangers lock up the #2 seed with a 27-21 victory.

Bust out the McCort ball...it's time notch up another W on it!

Revenge is always a great motivator. All I'll say is six words- Jose Cruz...cheap shot....Rearick's knee.

How can McCort, esteemed in the Halls of Academia, produce a kid who can't get into college?

speakin of last years games, I blame that on Don. I do this becasue Rearick was no where near ready to play in those games. though in the second game he would have had to becasue mehall was out. But all year mehall should have been at the helm. He sat the bench two previuos years learning everything, he knew football as good as any coach on that team. All that was last year was daddy saying " if my son doesn't play, he wont go to school here anymore" And Don just wanted to showcase A sophmore quaterback to have his "buliding year" which is bull when you look at that team. Last years seniors had 5-6 starters as sophmores. It wasnt fair to throw thier season away. Another thing I think "somone" is scared of John Franco
