AA football playoffs

Post by Lefteyelouie »

Here are the standings according to todays Bedford Paper.
1) Tyrone - 7-0 - 990
2) BM - 6-1 - 780
3) FH - 6-1 - 730
4) CR - 6-1 - 660
5) Bed - 5-2 - 650
6) PC - 5-2 - 610
7) M. Center 5-2 - 580
8 Westy - 4-3 - 520
9) P. Line - 4-3 - 440

These are the standings with 2 weeks remaining. Their will be some shifting among the teams in the top 8, but they should all make the playoffs. I don't see Purchase Line sneaking in. Look for Westmont to move up and PC to fall a bit. Bedford should move up if they win out and the loser of BM and FH will drop a few spots but should still play at home in the first round. It will be interesting to see if CR can stay in the top four if they win out. They prob. need a BM win for that to happen. These of course are just my guesses. What does everyone else think?

Tyrone will win out and not be touched until the playoffs.

A Bedford win this week will give them 120 points. A Forest Hills win over Bishop McCort gives them 100 points, plus the 6 wins that McCort already has. That will give FH 160 points this week. Bedford will earn 10 more points from FH if they beat BM and give them 130 points on the week. If Central Cambria beats Johnstown, that'll give Bedford 140 points on the week, and also give FH 10 more points. Central might be able to beat Richland this year and if they do, they'll earn both FH and Bedford 10 more points. If Richland wins, FH gets 10 points and Bedford gets none from them. Depending on the Richland Central game, the points earned this week for Bedford would be at 150. Forest Hills could earn up to 180 points this week.

The Bisons could move up to 800 points after this week. And the Rangers could move up to 910 points. McCort could add up to 30 points(i know more are possible, but that's as many as they'll gain with a loss to the Rangers) and move up to 810 points. Just ahead of the Bisons.

The top standings would be

Tyrone- points really don't matter here
Forest Hills- 910
Bishop McCort- 810
Bedford- 800

Ridge will earn 80 points with a win over Northern Bedford plus thier 50 points from previous wins. Giving them 130 points on the week. 790 is where they would sit after the week of play. One or two teams that they've beaten this year will get a win this week too, we'll say that two teams win, and give them 810 points after this week. That would leave them just ahead of Bedford in the standings and tied with the Crimson Crushers.

Going into week 10, Bedford faces off against another AAA team. A win earns them 120 points plus the 30 or 40 points(depending on this weeks action) for wins that Johnstown already has. Leaving them at 160 points. Forest Hills will beat Somerset, another 10 for Bedford. 170. Penn Cambria will beat Richland, 180 in one week. Moving Bedford to 980 points to finish the year.

CR will gain 140 points if they beat NBC and Mo Valley in the final week( the points from the NBC win over Westbranch in week 9) and maybe 1 or 2 more wins over thier other beaten opponents, leaving them at 950 points to finish the season.

McCort would earn 100 points with a win over CH. Plus 10 from wins from Bedford and Westmont. 120 points wouldn't be enough for them to host a play-off game, but they'd get the luxury of going to Chestnut Ridge for the First round of the playoffs.

The final standings would be this

1Tyrone
2Forest Hills
3Bedford
4Chestnut Ridge
5Bishop McCort

Who ever wins the week 8 match-up between FH and BM will get to be 2nd and host a playoff game in the first round. Whoever loses will more than likely have to make a trip to CR in the first round of the playoffs. OH DARN!

Again, this is what will happen if FH beats Bishop McCort.

Not bad ham but all of the dominos have to fall just right for your scenario to work because I don't think that Bedford wants to host McCort again or week 10 might be the last week again for a talented bison team. Remember if Ridge and Bedford tie and Ridge has the better record then they would get the higher seed.

The way I look at it the winner of the Forest Hills and Bishop McCort game will be the 2nd seed in and the loser will probably end up being the 5th seed and no lower. Bedford will end up 3rd pretty much anyway the 'dominoes' fall. They will win out and I believe that thier point total will maybe be 10 to 30 points different at the absolute most. I might get into more of this later this week if I have time(my last mid-term is tomorrow and I don't have english again until next Friday ).

I personally think Ridge will drop at least one of thier last 2 games and this will all be for not as it is. And if Ridge does win out, Bedford has to have ALL of the teams it's beaten in the past 5 weeks lose to not gain any more power points. Bedford already has a 60 point jump on Ridge based on the classification of the teams they play. (Bedford : AAA, AAA, Ridge : A, A) I some how hope that Ridge and Bedford tie for 4th, HOW SWEET IT WOULD BE!

Ridge could lose one of the last two and that would jump the Bisons up to 3rd and drop Ridge all the way to 6th. No matter what happens between Bishop McCort and Forest Hills, if Ridge loses a game in the final weeks of the season Bedford and Ridge will match-up come week 10 with the Lions traveling to Bedford. Can anybody tell how much I want this to happen? Christmas would come early this year if Bedford and Ridge could somehow meet up in week 10. Either way, it's looking dismal for the Lions. Right now it appears that Ridge will play either the Bisons, Rangers, or Crushers. OUCH!

I think that you had better hope that Bedford doesn't lay an egg against Johnstown. They have been playing better lately!

That is definately a game the Bisons can't overlook. J-town has some athletes.

Ham nice work on your totals, notice I said your totals. CR if they win out will very likely gain 320 more points 80 for each win, 50 each for current bonus from each of those two teams plus 60 other bonus points over the next 2 weeks. That puts them at 980 and I don't think FH beats BM which will put Bedford at a max of 950. But you know what nobody knows for sure thats what makes all of this fun. To talk about. And one more thing you better watch what you wish for because christmas doesn't always come for everyone all the time. That would put CR 3rd, Bedford 4th and FH 5th.

So you're telling me that 5 of the 6 teams this week and 5 of the 7 teams next week that Ridge has already beat will all win? I highly doubt that. Like I said, Bedford already has a 60 point jump on Ridge based on the classification of the teams they play. That's dang near one week of play for a Ridge team that plays an A dominate schedule. Ridge will also drop one of thier last 2 games and all this figuring will be for not anyway.
