I Officially Hate Notre Dame.
There's two things that can save college football:
1. BCS dies and there's a playoff.
2. Notre Dame is exterminated.
I'm one of the first people to say that they love history and tradition and all that. I appreciate Knute Rockne and Joe Montana and Tony Rice and Rudy and Paul Hornung and The Bus. However, tradition and history can sometimes turn from being wonderful into something very evil. That has already happened with Notre Dame. This team shown signs of life under Charlie Weis, a guy who has coached SEVEN games, and they give him a crazy amount of money and a 10 year deal. You have got to be kidding me. In those 7 games, Notre Dame has TWO losses, AT HOME. They have played TWO good teams, and lost to them both. It does not matter how well you play in a LOSS. You didn't win the game!!! So, in 7 games, with a 5-2 record, the world is at it's knees bowing to Charlie Weis. I'm not even saying the guy is not going to do well, and hasn't already. He's a good coach. But a 10 year deal? 7 games into his first tenure as a head coach???
But that's not what irritates me the most. The new rankings came out. We are 8 games into the regular season and we already have a two-loss team in the freakin' top 10. And guess who it is? Notre Dame. Who in the hell did Notre Dame beat? Michigan. That's it!!! They lost to both teams they played that were good! When they played MSU, MSU was firing on all cylinders. Pitt sure as hell wasn't, and neither was Purdue. I guess BYU is what catapults you into the top 10. This is a complete slap in the face of every team and fan in the nationwho watches or participates in college football. There is NO EXCUSE for Notre Dame being in the top 10. I don't wanna hear how good they did against USC, they lost the game!!!

BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well I think the fact is that Notre Dame and the Notre Dame athletic department know a little more about the situation than you ever will and I think they are making a judgement based on what he has done and what he has shown since he has been here. He is an absolute genious when it comes to offense..why else would Mack Brown call the Notre Dame offensive coordinator Michael Haywood...who used to coach at Texas as an offensive coordinator and tell him that he feels the Notre Dame offense is the deadliest in college football...Charlie Weis has 4 super bowl rings and he was the offensive coordinator for both of those teams..on the defensive side of the ball things will progessively get better because Weis hired Bill Lewis who coached the defensive secondary for the Miami Dolphins for 12 years...lots of experience...but forget the whole football side of the arguement...they have someone now who knows what Notre Dame is about, he knows how to inspire the team and everyone involved, and he is someone who can represent the university the way it feels is right...you really don't know anything about the situation so you should not comment on it...also I would like to know where you all the sudden got this enlightenment of football knowledge?

Where all of a sudden do you get the right to reply after you don't read the whole post?
He's a great coach, brainiac. There's no denying that. But they gave the guy a 10 year deal after 7 games, 2 of which you lost. You have attachments to that program, Turk, and that clouds your opinion, just like Hollywood with his Mountaineer crap. Look at it for what it is: a 10 year deal after 7 games, 2 of which were losses against the 2 best teams you played. You are still an unproven team, who has beaten no one except an over-rated Michigan team.
Like I said, everyone was ready to bow at Willingham's feet in his first season, too.

You are right..I didn't read the whole post because is was mostly crap..which read something like this...yada yada yada blah blah blah yada yada yada...why would I waste my time listening to someone's point of view on something that they have no idea about when I can just state the reason why Notre Dame extended his contract...I would like to think that I have an idea...you dont have a solid foundation to start an argument...and IF you did know something about football you will notice that Willingham won in the first year of his tenure because his defense was forcing turnovers and scoring...their defense probably had just about as many points as their offense...Weis has a team with an offense that scores..and if you knew anything and had anything to base an argument on you will have maybe heard some of the points that were said on ESPN Radio about why Notre felt Willingham wasn't taking the program where they wanted it to go...mainly because he wasn't very personable...he wasn't good when it came to the media and other things of that nature

Re: I Officially Hate Notre Dame.
Notice how I was careful to say "Willingham in his first year".
Once again, this has nothing to do with how good of a coach Charlie Weis is, or MAY become. It has to do with 7 games, 5 wins and 2 losses, both losses AT HOME and against the two best teams they played. 5 wins over 1 decent team, who was crazy over-rated like they are every year.
Then again, I guess "faith" is aplenty at Notre Dame.

You know, Tyrone Willingham won 10 games in his first season at Notre Dame. Ten! Isn't that a great coach and all that nice stuff? I do like Notre Dame (unlike TAE), but they really didn't beat any really good teams yet. Charlie Weis was originally under contract until 2010. Why the heck did they extend his contract to 2015 in HIS FIRST SEASON COACHING? The first season may or may not be a good indicator of how well he is going to do. Especially a school that had Tyrone Willingham do well for one year before producing a bunch of mediocre teams. Charlie Weis may have his offense playing well, but he needs to get his defense playing better. Offense wins games, but defense wins championships. He's doing well for his first year, but it is only his first year. That's the point.

Re: I Officially Hate Notre Dame.
I will give you another reason....there where rumors going around about how Weis may want to go to the NFL...it doesn't matter where these rumors come from, they just come about and that is bad for the recruiting side of the football program...so all parties involved felt it was the best thing to do

Re: I Officially Hate Notre Dame.
Notre Dame has so much returning that there's a case to be made for them being the preseason number one next year. They will win a national title if it takes the NCAA actually shooting down opposing teams from the sky as they travel week to week.
However, it does not matter how good of a coach he is. Ther eis NO excuse for a 10 year deal worth that much money! All ND did was just make the gap larger between the top teams and the teams in conferences like the Sun Belt. NOW, those teams have no chance of persuading a former NFL guy to go coach there. This makes the NCAA even MORE top-heavy, and that was the problem in the first place!
