TAE Top 25 Edition 8
Here it is, folks. The real top 25, not some AP or Coaches Poll bullsh*t. I see more games than probably all those bozos and being the expert I am, I have full right and knowledge to post a true top 25. No playing favorites, no politics.
**You lose, you drop 7 automatic spots. If it works out where the team that just beat you ends up ranked 1 spot behind you, it flip-flops.**

my rankings
1- USC: Yeah, like they're going to lose to Cal's third string QB.
2- Texas: Nice blow out over Kansas. 52-0 at halftime.
3. Miami (FL)- ruined VT's season, and made Wake miserable.
4. LSU- just ruined Bama's SEC title hopes and dream season.
5. Penn State- one win from clinching the Big Ten and a BCS berth
6. Notre Dame- still don't like their weak schedule, but give credit where credit is due
7. Virginia Tech- Will they play for the last two with a possible BCS berth still up for grabs?
8. Alabama- horrible OT loss to LSU, but still one of the best.
9. Ohio State- great team still fighting for a BCS berth. Need a win and a PSU loss to guarentee it, but in consideration for an at large.
10. Oregon- One bad half against USC away from a perfect season.
11. UCLA- Still have control over how they finish in the PAC 10, as a win over USC gives them the conference.
12. West Virginia- Two wins away from a Big East title and BCS berth. Head and shoulders above the rest of the Big Weak.
13. TCU- What if they hadn't looked past SMU? Ten wins with one loss, a finished regular season, and roughly six weeks to prepare for their bowl game. Good deal.
14. Auburn- Can't say I totally buy them yet, but they have played well enough. What I wonder about is I saw that Auburn run where the guy fumbled the ball into the endzone. He was bobbling it on the way in and lost control after a defender stripped it. Maybe an Auburn guy did recover it, but in college ball, when the ball is fumbled OVER the goal line, wouldn't that be a touchback and a Georgia ball with about two minutes to play? What am I missing here?
15. Georgia- A good team that may have gotten cheated out of their last game against Auburn. Still in control of their SEC title berth as long as they can beat UK.
16. Fresno State- For all practical purposes, has won the WAC title. Just don't look past Louisiana Tech (which can still win it if they somehow beat Boise and Fresno in the upcoming weeks....), as TCU learned the hard way.
17. Michigan- After starting 3-3, they've won four straight. And if they beat Ohio State at home, somehow the three losses will be ancient history.
18. South Carolina- has won five straight under the Ole Ball Coach, including Tennessee (in Neyland Stadium) and Florida. Nobody's gonna want to play them come bowl time.
19. Florida- The people in Gainesville are turning up the heat on the first year coach, after he was expected to (somehow) win his division of the SEC. That's why Steve Spurrier is at USC instead of Florida.
20. Boston College- lost to John Bunting, beat beat Chuck Amato
21. Florida State- son beats father in the Bowden bowl. This team is playing very uninspired football after winning the ACC Atlantic Division. Look out for a Miami blowout in a few weeks....
22. Oklahoma- Three losses to three teams that are now 29-2. Still not bad. Looks like a very winnable game against Texas Tech is coming up.
23. Louisville- Still don't totally buy them on the road, but they might be able to play USC tough if the game was at Louisville. Averages nearly 60 points per game at home.
24. UTEP- spanked Texas Southern.
25. UCF- Maybe this is unwarrented, but after going 0-3 to start the season, and having a 17 game losing streak going into the season, and now standing at 7-3 and a game at Rice away from clinching a spot in the C-USA title game, this is the comeback team of the year. That is why they are in my top 25.
OUT:
Georgia Tech- Needed to beat Virginia, but didn't.
Wisconsin- bad taste in Alvarez mouth after losing his last home game-- ever
Texas Tech- How do you lose to the worst team in the Big 12? Texas' strength of schedule just took a HUGE hit, but it no longer matters.
Colorado- Lost to the choke artists.
Close, but no cigar:
Toledo- admirable game, admirable team, still in the fight for the MAC title
Iowa State- What to say when the choke artists have quite choking?
Virginia- Playing like they are still in it.
Miami (OH)- two games away from a possible MAC title game, which would be the first in a long time for this team...
