If windber has a quick line and a good defensive backfield, they will give rochester a run for their money. Rochester's linemen are strong but slow. They don't make a lot of mistakes...

looks like it will be duquesne instead of Rochester...this one is almost over with Duq up by 8 and driving again. Under 3 minutes remain.

Duquesne Knocks Off Defending Champion For Class (A) Championship...
Elijah Fields and Layton Dunn each scored a 5-yard touchdown as the Duquesne Dukes won their third W.P.I.A.L. title with a 14-6 victory over the defending champion Rochester Rams Saturday at Heinz Field.
Duquesne was making its fourth trip to the W.P.I.A.L. Championship game, the Dukes were 11-0 on the season and had scored 145 points in three W.P.I.A.L. playoff games. Yet the Dukes came into Heinz Field s an underdog against the defending W.P.I.A.L. Champion Rochester Rams. Little of that seemed to affect the Easter Conference champion.
Rochester (12-1) had been here before. Starting out the game on defense suited the Rams just fine. They showed early on what they believed would work against the high-powered Dukes. They sent the kickoff well away from Elijah Fields and forced a three and out on the first drive.
A roughing the kicker call on 4th down of Rochester’s first drive allowed the Rams to move deep into Dukes territory, but the Duquesne (12-0) defense would hold on a 4th down run and the Dukes would than use a long pass to Fitzgerald Bobo to move inside the Rams 10 yard line late in the 1st quarter, but Tariq Taylor intercepted a Durrell Dunn pass and thwarted Duquesne’s first scoring chance.
In the first quarter the Rams held Elijah Fields to three touches for 25 yards and kept the ball away from Fields on special teams. Neither team was able to sustain a drive as the defenses dominated most of the first half. In the opening half the Rams were uncharacteristically sloppy with the football as they threw two interceptions and fumbled four times, loosing one. Rochester appeared to have a sustained drive going early in the second quarter, but a Shon Taylor interception at the 1 yard line allowed the Dukes to end the Rams best opportunity.
After forcing a three and out and forcing a punt out of the Dukes endzone, Derek Moye would not be able to handle the fair catch and the Dukes Reneri Allen recovered the fumble at the Dukes 38-yard line. The Dukes used the momentum of that turnover and drove 62 yards in eight plays capped off by a 5-yard fade pass for a touchdown and the extra point made it 7-0 with 1:59 left in first half.
A turnover deep in Dukes territory gave the Rams a chance to tie the game before the break, but a 4th and three pass was dropped by Tony Whiteleather at the goal line and the Dukes survived again defensively.
In the first half the top-seeded Rams were held to 103 yards of total offense – 85 on the ground - and just five first downs. Derek Moye led the Rams with 52 yards on 11 carries, but was unable to find running room against the hard-hitting Dukes defense. Duquesne was also held to 85 yards rushing with Layton Dunn running 10 times for just 37 yards.
The Rams open the third quarter by driving to the Dukes 26 yard line, but would turn it over on downs, coming up empty again inside Dukes territory. The Dukes responded to the defensive stop with a statement drive. They went 74 yards in 15 plays eating up 6:55 off the clock capped off by a 5-yard run by Layton Dunn..
Rochester quickly answered with a 61-yard touchdown pass from Dan Camp to Whitleather. They extra-point was no good and the Rams had cut the Dukes lead to 14-6 but that is as close as it got. The Dukes were able to run off most of the clock the rest of the way including a 6:29 drive that didn’t end with points ate up most of the fourth quarter clock. Dunn had 84 of his 121 yards in the second half as the Rams were unable to contend with both heads of the two-headed offensive machine of Dunn and Fields. Fields was held to 51 yards rushing, 42 yards receiving and zero special team yards. Most teams can shut down one of the two, but no team has been able to stop both in one game. Duquesne nearly doubled the time of possession on Rochester 31:09 to 16:51.
Duquesne had not been to the WPIAL finals since losing to Rochester, 26-13, in 2002 and won its first W.P.I.A.L. Championship since beating West Greene, 55-0, in 1993. That year saw the Dukes win a P.I.A.A. Championship and the W.P.I.A.L. Champion will face the Windber Ramblers in the P.I.A.A. Quarterfinals on November 25th or 26th.

Windber grabs District #5 Crown...
BEDFORD —
In it’s second season as the Windber offense, the old-school single wing has produced a CLASS single-(A) District #5 football championship.
The Ramblers offense opened up a 20-point lead and the defense did the rest as the Ramblers beat Tussey Mountain 42-7 on Friday night at Bedford High School.
For the Ramblers, it was a revenge of sorts after getting bounced in a first-round playoff game last year.
“After last year’s lack of success, we were committed to ourselves to come out here and win a district championship,” said veteran Windber coach Phil DeMarco, whose Ramblers won the program’s fourth district title. “I have to give all the credit to the seniors and the coaching staff. They have hung in there all year and I think we have taken a step in the right direction as far as the single wing is concerned.”
Aaron Peterson and Matt Andrascik each scored twice for the Ramblers, while Matt Wilson added a touchdown catch and Patrick Ferrante ran in another.
“It feels good that we were running on all cylinders tonight,” said Wilson, who returned last week after suffering a collarbone injury earlier in the season.
“The offensive line was blocking real well and had a good push up front.”
Defensively, Wilson picked off another pass, adding to the two interceptions he had against Meyersdale on Nov. 11. Josh Kotula added another pick, and the Ramblers also recovered a pair of fumbles.
And unlike last week, when the top-seeded Ramblers coughed up the ball five times, Windber protected the football against the sixth-seeded Titans (5-7), only allowing one turnover, an interception by Chris Neuder.
“We’re 10-1 and I know what we have to deal with next week, the No. 1 team in the state,” DeMarco said. “Whoever wins (today) between Duquesne and Rochester definitely will be the No.# 1 team in the state. But hey, we might as well start at the top and see what we can do.”
Windber quarterback Brad Dale wasted no time getting the Ramblers on the board early, connecting with Wilson on just the fourth play of the game, a 34-yard strike. Coupled with the first of Dominic Balash’s three extra-points, the Ramblers led 7-0 just over 2 minutes in.
Peterson’s first touchdown came from a yard out later in the first quarter, but the Titans’ Josh Eichelberger was able to block the point-after attempt.
Andrascik scored nearly 5 minutes into the second quarter, taking a direct snap three yards off the right side of the line.
“Our offensive line, they were committed tonight that we were going to run the football and they did a great job up front,” DeMarco said.
Neuder scored the lone Tussey Mountain touchdown with 1:50 left in the first half and Waylon Corbin added an extra point, bringing the Titans within 20-7 at halftime.
Andrascik and Peterson each added 1-yard touchdown runs in the third quarter, and Ferrante took a hand-off from Kotula nine-yards early in the fourth.
“It’s been a while since we have gotten to compete for (the district title),” Dale said. “It’s just great to win it and move on to the next round
