The Story Line On Duquesne -vs- Coudersport...

CLARION, Pa. (AP) — Chris McCall, Shon Taylor, and Pete Hawkins returned interceptions for touchdowns, as Duquesne posted a 33-2 win over Coudersport in the PIAA Class A semifinals Friday night.
The victory earns Duquesne (14-0) its first trip to the state championship game, which will be held Dec. 9 at 1 p.m. at Hersheypark Stadium. The Dukes will face the winner of Saturday's game between defending champion Southern Columbia (11-2) and Steelton-Highspire (11-2) in the title game.
The game was delayed one hour and 15 minutes due to weather conditions. The field, covered by snow, quickly turned to mud, which led to 19 turnovers. Coudersport (13-1) fumbled 13 times, losing nine, and was intercepted five times. Duquesne fumbled six times and lost five.
McCall opened the scoring for Duquesne with a 25-yard interception return. Elijah Fields gave the Dukes a 14-0 first quarter lead with a 70-yard punt return.
Duquesne added three more defensive touchdowns in the second half. In the third quarter, Layton Dunn recovered a fumble in the end zone. In the fourth quarter, Taylor returned an interception 53 yards for a touchdown, then Hawkins returned another 27 yards for a score.
Dunn rushed for 188 yards on 33 carries to become only the second running back in Duquesne history to reach 2,000 yards. Dunn has 2,106 yards for the season.
Coudersport's only points came on a safety in the third quarter.

I'm not sure what kinda field they played on ? i was going to go to the game, but it was too far away for me, & a little cold.
When my Daughter played at Clarion College (Fast pitch), for four years. there was no turf yet ??? that was in the 1990's of course !!!!

Lol...I thought that was funny too guys...it was field turf and completely snow covered but the Clarion crew did a good job...The Dukes moved the ball pretty well but fumbled and were stopped a couple of times in the red zone...it was a good game and I think coudersport would have scored more, probably the dukes also if it was a clear night...My brother went to clarion and I don't think it's in the mountains per se but the Rt 66 was snowy on the way home and we debated whether we should have taken the highway using 80 but a little before we reached Redbank Valley the roads were completely clear...Well it's off to Hershey...Tough game ahead...If the Dukes can strike early and often I will be happy because the Dukes starting 22 is basically the same 11 on both sides...the SCA tigers have an offensive and Defensive unit...that is an advantage in Single A and a great credit to them to get that many kids out for thier teams...BTW chops I enjoy your updates!
