Hypothetically...
Let's say Penn State beat Michigan. We'll say they held them off at the end or else Manningham drops that TD pass, and PSU is right now 11-0, same as Texas. Who deserves to play USC?

Re: Hypothetically...
Nice argument. But should I expect anything less from you, D-nice?

Re: Hypothetically...
There would be a huge controversy if that had happened. I suspect that since they were there all along, USC and Texas would have been at the top and Penn State would have been the odd man out but who could really say who is the most deserving of those three in that scenario...it would all be opinion. Maybe George Bush would have been asked to intervene as Nixon did in '69 (for those of you that thought that was dead, read today's editorial in the Altoona Mirror!).
Hypothetically, who is to say if the Big 10 had one more team and had a conference playoff, PSU would have beaten Mich or Ohio State in a Conference Championship game yesterday to even get to the BCS?

Re: Hypothetically...
See, they would have already beaten those teams. Texas already killed Colorado in the regular season, and USC beat everyone in the Pac-10. Conference title games are pointless. Why should you have to prove yourself again against a team you already beat? What if Tech had already beaten FSU and FSU was something like 5-6? It just doesn't make any sense.
I would have loved the arguments between PSU and Texas. Who would have been given a strength of competition edge over the other? But at the same time, is it their fault if the conference was weak? How is it it Texas' fault that the Big 12 sucks this year or vice versa for Penn State?

Re: Hypothetically...
This is scary AE, we are agreeing.
Exactly, it is not Texas fault there conference is weak, it is not Fla. State's fault their division was weak...they won when they had to.
And quite frankly, it's not ND's fault there schedule panned out to be weak....It looked like a very decent schedule at the beginning of the season before Pitt, Purdue, and Michie State nosedived. And back when the schedule was made....at least 5 years ago, Washington would have appeared to be a big game.

Re: Hypothetically...
Texas only played 5 games in Austin. PSU had 7 home games. That's the tie breaker. I give it to Texas based on that.

Re: Hypothetically...
Pitt lost every single road game, yet was in conference contention until almost the end of the regular season. Would we be hearing the same thing from Moldo if Pitt was up for the Big East bid?
