now jaguars coach jack del rio publicly said that indy colts have been using the pa system to pump up the crowd noise.but is now relieved that media attention will halt this practice. is there a pattern here?

whatever happened to HOMEFIELD ADVANTAGE. who cares if they use the PA system to pump up the crowd, theyre paying for the system and the announcer, why not have him be biased. thats like having a groundskeeper that doesnt cut the grass for 2 weeks to give your team the advantage because your upcoming opponent has the fastest man on earth for a running back. is it cheating? no, is it bending the rules to your advantage? yes.

wait...is the PA system being used to get the crowd to be more excited and louder or is it being used to blast artificial crowd noises into the stadium...i thought it was the latter of the two, but the first one sounds like what gunner is saying...

From what I understand it is being used to blast artificial noises into the stadium, not to get the crowd pumped up. They are, in essence, simulating screaming fans.

Since Gunner brought it up, I do remember stories that JoePA would order the grass and Beaver Stadium to not be cut whenever Tony Dorsett would come to town...Not sure if it was true, or just legend...

i dont know what the colts are doing, im just talking out my rear like i normally do. as far as the reference to the grass, that was of course the big rumor when USC travelled to south bend this season

of course gunner...didn't you see the grass was ready to be cut and bailed? it was clear up to their hips!!! i think they definitely over exaggerated the length of the grass

One ESPN reporter, can't remember his name right now, stated that it sounded as if bass was being pumped through the stadium speakers when the Steelers had the football on Monday night 2 weeks ago. The Colt's denied it, Steelers players refused to comment on it. It's not like it has never happend before though. The Redskins were fined 20,000 dollars a few years back for using 'sound enhancement equipment' during the oppositions posessions. That was the last incident where IT WAS CAUGHT. Who knows how much of it actually goes on, especially in domes where the noise is already magnified as it is.

Would that be the same as in high school, when your team has possession and is trying to call a play, and the other team's BAND keeps on playing through the break?

Yes, infact that has happened at Bedford before. When Shoemaker was still at the helm. I believe we were playing Richland and they wouldn't stop playing when we had the ball. Shoemaker told the refs to stop the band, and the ref replied by saying that it was the responsibility of the game management (the A.D.) to stop it. Well that was tried, but the band director told our A.D. that he "would play when I want to, and you can't tell me other wise". We then politely asked them to leave the premisis if they wouldn't stop. Needless to say, they obliged rather quickly.
