Rumor has it that Everett will be AA the next two years. Almost definite that single A will have its own playoff system with top 4 teams getting in and anyone with 5 wins and maybe 4 wins. there are now 10 teams in single A in football minus everett now. Some good insentive for single A teams not having to contend with the Bishops or any other dist 6 school. I think dist V teams single A are happy with the move.
It will be a massacre once they get out of D-5 though. From what I've seen they will be paired with D-3 and schools like Upper Dauphin, Central Catholic and York Catholic. It could get ugly for the D-5 single A schools around here, but atleast some schools that would have no chance in D-6(besides Windber) will be getting some hardware to put in the 'ole trophy case.
Everyone thinks that the Dist V single A is going east. They are staying in westerm bracket paired against Dist 7 which is much better. Alot of people were hoping that Dist 5 was going east as I feel them playing Dist 3 champ might be a better game than the WPIAL champ. I think if HEad Roadie reads this he will again clarify what dist V is looking at nextr season

Head Roadie here with the real deal....First of all, the D3 schools you mentioned are bigger than "A". The schools to fear from 3-A are Steel-High and Scotland. Camp Hill had a good team a few years back. Other than that their teams are similar to ours and nothing to get too excited about. It doesn't matter because in the proposed brackets, much to the dismay of the D5 committee (we wanted to go east), D6 drew the eastern draw and a date with D3 in state round 1. D5-A will play 7-A (WPIAL) which is the worst draw we could have gotten. Our district chairman is going to negotiate and attempt to have the western bracket rotate so that in a 3 yr cycle 5 plays 7 then 9 then 10....this giving the other two western districts in the new bracketing (9 & 10) their turns with the WPIAL also.
According to this years classifications at Piaa.org, those schools that I mentioned are all A. It is MUCH worse to have to face teams like Monessen, Rochester, Monaca, and Sto Rox in the first round. It will be MUCH more ugly if that is the case. I feel for you guys. Just think of Conemaugh Township playing Sto Rox this year. I would take the Rox by 49+

Your correct about U.Dauphin Sports999, I read your post (errr....canned it and though you had said C.Dauphin--huge diff!!!) I'm surprised York Cath. is A in football, but anyway Y.Cath. and Read. CC although striking fear in peoples hearts when it comes to roundball aren't as fearful with the pigskin.
