Next Season

Post by 11th man »

I know it's still insanely early, but who will be coming back for the local teams next year to continue their high school careers? Who will the star players be? Who will be the team to beat?

I kno that for Bedford, alot of holes will be left to be filled up front. The only returning starter on the line will be Taylor Claar. Losing Fochtman, Sotirokos, Gardill, and Arnold will leave a whole, and a big one at that. Sure the line play this year was questionable at times but losing 4 guys will hurt. Besides the line alot of skill guys will be back. Harris at Q/CB or RB(which i think he will be better at), Young at RB/LB, DEEK HARRIS at WR/CB, John Marshal RB/SS, Fox WR/Q/CB, and even Kyler Ford Q/WR/CB. This next season should be successful for the bisons, if they get big boys to handle the load this year up front.

I think the top 4 in AA are a safe bet.Tyrone,Forest Hills,Chestnut Ridge, and Phillipsburg. All were good this year, and all return key people next year.Tyrone only starts 3 seniors so what you see now is what you get next year, only a year older, bigger and faster.Phillipsburg only loses a couple players along with White. They will be Tyrone's main competition in the new Allegheny Football Conference(big 8 expands).Ridge returns Barefoot,a couple linemen, and a few decent skill kids.Should equal their success this year, maybe even better.Forest Hills is Forest Hills, they return more than a couple from this years finalist team, plus their jr high never loses so they have some people to plug the gaps.

Hambone what position is "C".... I've always known this as Center. Somehow I doubt those guys are playin center. I know if u meant cornerback u would have said "CB" since we all know thats the appropriate abbreviation...?

I saw that and was thinking the exact same thing. Then I noticed he used the appropriate "ss" for strong safety, rather than just "s". Doesn't seem to fit into any sort of pattern.

Northern will be returning 9 starters back on defense and a much more experienced O-line as well. On offense, Drew Eshelman, Kenny Thompson, Eric Wagner, Steve Wagner will be back on the line as well as several others that got a TON of playing time this past season. Kilgore will be returning, more than likely as the fullback next year, and Donaldson and Luke Webber will be runnning the ball...both who played a lot this past season. Eichelberger, Kagarise, and Jordan Schoeff(?) will be in the receiver positions, all of whom will letter winners from this season. Northern has a lot to work with next season and all the guys who aren't out for a winter sport are becoming very dedicated to the weight room...good things may be in the future for NB.

The Eagles of Tyrone will definitely be very competitive next year with very many starters from this year returning. Forest Hills will have to rebuild from this year and get back into Rangers they really are. Bedford is young and will have many starters back next year.

In D-6 here is what I see:

A - I don't follow A too much but here is what I see. Bishop Carroll will return some great players like Forcellini, Tackacs and Brock Lauer from a great team, they will be the early favorite to win the district. BG has a few kids back from a team that SHOULD have beaten BC in the semi's of districts. I look for this to be the matchup in the finals next year.

AA - Tyrone is your early favorite to win this one. Returning names like Mertiff and Gummo, it's hard to argue. If their QB improves and they fill a few gaps in the line, they will be tough to beat. Forest Hills loses Kudloweic, but replaces him with a kid named Mehall who threw their only TD in the finals. Central Cambria loses Giles, but returns a RB that scored 10 times this season, complimenting Giles well. They return alot off of their school record setting D and have an experienced passing game coming back with Mesaros at QB as well as a ton of recievers back. Bedford has both Harris' back next season.....ouch. But will they come together as a team and trust their coach? My picks are Tyrone and then CC.

AAA - Johnstown loses alot off of their line but returns LaRod, as well as their QB. Their QB needs to go to some camps to get his skills better if they plan to take it to the next level. They will lose Jeff Schellhammer off of their D, which will hurt.....bad. Huntington loses Kozak, who has basically their team. J-town is my early favorite.

AAAA - I don't know much about this class, sorry.

I agree with sports99 in the A Class with Carrol coming back as the top pick to win districts. I think his thought about Tyrone in AA is a good choice too. Johnstowns always going to be a threat in Triple A as long as they have Lerod but look for Somerset to come sneaking into the mix next year, they return a back who ran over 1,000 yards this year as a Junior and they return most of their defense and a quarterback whos been a starter for three years. They were very young this year but very impressive. AAAA will look the same as this year.
