Bush Must Not Speak in Public Anymore Without a Teleprompter

I sort of thought toward the end of the last campaign that he actually was making some sense and that his impromptu speaking skills had improved. But right now our president, even when he's right, talks in such a garbled, vapid, and obtuse manner that watching him try to to "communicate" is actually painful.

Not many disagree that President Bush is awful at speaking in front of cameras "off the cuff". That does not make him unintelligent or a liar.

My take on it is this. The man has been absolutely crucified by the media. He doesn't get the "softballs" that folks like Murtha, Hitlary, Pelosi, et al are now getting, and Clinton before them. He has to choose his words very, very carefully, and let's face it, he's not very good at doing that.

Fear drives out reason. Fear suppresses the politics of discourse and opens the door to the politics of destruction. Justice Brandeis once wrote: "Men feared witches and burnt women."

The founders of our country faced dire threats. If they failed in their endeavors, they would have been hung as traitors. The very existence of our country was at risk.

Yet, in the teeth of those dangers, they insisted on establishing the Bill of Rights.

Is our Congress today in more danger than were their predecessors when the British army was marching on the Capitol? Is the world more dangerous than when we faced an ideological enemy with tens of thousands of missiles poised to be launched against us and annihilate our country at a moment's notice? Is America in more danger now than when we faced worldwide fascism on the march-when our fathers fought and won two World Wars?

It is simply an insult to those who came before us and sacrificed so much on our behalf to imply that we have more to be fearful of than they. Yet they faithfully protected our freedoms and now it is up to us to do the same.

I am stunned to read that statement. Lionspride do you honestly believe that. President Bush is the bubble president. His appearances are before hand picked audiences that sign loyalty statement before they enter. Bush rarely does press conferences. The late Sarah McClendon covered Presidential press conferences for over 60 years. The Bushites did not like her questions in 2001, what do they do, in 2001 they do not review her press pass....

I like to think of GW as more like Teddy Roosevelt- Speak softly and carry a BIG stick. Except we are averse to using our big sticks, conventional and Nuke. He's got the "bully pulpit". If you Libs don't like it, come up with some ideas the MAJORITY of voters will go for next election. Right now, you got NUTHIN!
