"No Breaks in September"

Post by frostlion »

Get out your waders.

http://www.post-gazette.com/pg/06039/651868.stm

Pitt's 2006 schedule:

9/2 Virginia

9/8 Cincinnati

9/16 Michigan State

9/23 The Citadel

9/30 Toledo

Yet Wanny says:

"Wannstedt said one thing that will make the schedule tougher is that he has a young team and Pitt doesn't get any breaks in September."

No breaks in September says Wanny???? Now I must give Pitt credit for playing Michigan State (from a far superior conference), but to say that by getting THE CITADEL (I-AA), TOLEDO, CINCINATTI, and VIRGINIA (do they have a returning coaching staff??) in the same month that they get no breaks in September?!?!?!?!?!?

I truly hope by this Wanny means that he does not get an off week. But even if that is the case, would you really need an off week, or "break", by playing those teams??

Perhaps all that running faster is really getting to him. Perhaps the quote should be "drink slower."

Hey, Michigan State is a cupcake too, right? Good news for anti-Pitt fans: John L. Smith's MSU teams are virtually unstoppable in the first half of the season.

I guess that Furman scare was enough to push them towards The Citadel this time around.

He actually meant that there were NO off weeks in September. Anyone good at reading comprehension would have understood that.

As would someone who understands the concept of "sarcasm".

Still though, why would anyone need an off week with that schedule???

Not like they are playing Michigan State, Wisconsin, Ohio State, and Michigan!

Reading comprehension, coming from the man that reads into EVERYTHING that has Penn State in it, and usually makes it out to be the worst possible. Imagine if this was that Penn States first 5 games this year. The sh*t would have already hit the fan...

Pitt wanted to play Youngstown State instead of the Citadel, but Penn State beat them to the punch.

ANY team can beat anyone on any given week! That is why football is the best game and a true team game!! He is right there is no real weeks off in college football anymore. I love it

I don't have to read anything into what comes out of Penn State. It's there for the taking, in plain old black and white. The Paxson story, the Ed DeChellis quotes, the Paterno philosophies. There all there.
