Wrasslerfan,
Wrestling isn't over yet, why there's Junior Olympics in Bedford this Mon. and Tues, with top 2 going to Philipsburg Fri. and Sat, Johnstown for states the next weekend, MAWA qualifier tournaments to go to, MAWA regionals and states, Ohio tournament of champions at the end of April... still LOTS of wrestling to go to this year...

I'll go through some of what I think were achievements and disappointments for the local teams.

Achievements...

Bedford having 4 people qualify for states
Ridge breaking their school record in wins
North Star winning both D5 titles this year, also winning a few matches at the state dual meet tournament
Tony Lascari placing 4th in the state
Josh Snyder placing 5th in the state
Brent Willison placing 6th in the state
Gary Pfahler placing 8th in the state
Tussey Mountain sending 5 wrestlers to regionals

Disappointments....

Ridge not winning a D5 title and only sending one wrestler to states
Bedford not winning any matches at the state tournament
Jake Snyder not placing at states this season after placing there last season
Tommy Ripple not placing at states this season after placing there last season
District 5 as a whole not filling up lineups

Overall, it was a pretty good year for District 5.

D5 will be different without the snyders, and brent. There are alot of wrestlers not coming back next year. just another chance for other Wrestlers to step it up.

There is a huge amount of talent coming up through Jr. high and the elementary programs.

It was good to see Bedfords elementary program grow this year along with Chestnut Ridge. It seems Chestnut Ridge always has a good turnout for the Elem. program. Scott and Cary Bollman do a wonderful job with these kids. I also found out last night the the Bedford JO's has had the largest turnout of all of the qualifiers in our region, that is always a good sign. It was also great to see Josh Snyder, Brent Wilison and Gary Phaler there to handle out the awards last night, I know my 2 boys were excited to receive their award from them. Hopefully, some of the kids that received awards last night will be there to hand them out in a few years!

Good Luck to all the wrestlers at Phillipsburg!
