PIRATES- another losing season
I have always rooted for the pirates as long as I can remember. They are 0-6 so far and this of course is the worst thing that could happen to them. I think with this start they will be hard pressed to get to .500 this year. How long is it before the talk is " well wait till next year." This is frustrating following them or I guess being loyal to them. I will stick with them but wow it is getting tough. Someone tell me what is going on? Will they ever get back to a winning franchise?

Re: PIRATES- another losing season
It sure has been a rough start for the Buccos this year. They've had 6 tough losses by 3 runs or less. They've been so close, but they're going to struggle to get that first win until the pitching turns around. When your supposed ace Olly Perez has an ERA of 6.23 you're going to have some problems. I think if the pitching turns around, they still have a shot at being a solid, competitive (probably not for a playoff spot, but rather a .500 team) team. As a side note, there's so much young talent on this team that if they have time to stick together and blossom the Pirates could actually, quite seriously have a very bright future. I know that sounds a lot like the false hope that the Pirate fans have had for years, but I think it's more legitimate now than ever before.

actually this might not be bad for the buccos... as i recall, the past few years they've gotten out to a good start but fall apart late in the year, maybe they're getting their falling apart done now and will put it back together and finish strong...of course, then again, they could go 0-162 like hammy said

Well, they got a win today. So, maybe 1-161.

By starting 0-6 it just means they have to now have the record of 82-76 to be a .500 team it just makes it much more difficult. Once they get through April, I see many more wins coming their way.

Now that the first win is out of hte bag, there's not turning back. The REAL quest for .500 at years end begins now.

They're getting pounded again today. Duke has gotten rocked for 5 runs early in the game. This is something if you're a Pirate fan you don't want to see. He's suppose to be there future star pitcher, but I guess it doesn't really matters. If he would have success, they'd just get rid of him anyway.
