UPJ to Regionals

UPJ to Regionals
As I am writing this UPJ is currently making it's first NCAA Baseball playoff appearance in school history.
Head Coach Todd Williams has really done a lot for the program over the last five years. I will be the first to admit, I was a huge critic of UPJ baseball, but there is no more denying that this program is on the rise.
The fact of the matter is that UPJ wouldn't be here it is today without local talent. This years team is no different. Casey Long (Greater Johnstown) leads the team in hitting, and Chuck Boring (United) is one of the teams top hurlers.
I personally think it is great for the local sports scene to have another respectable program as a choice for local athletes to continue their playing career. With the baseball team FINALLY being admitted into a conference (WVIAC) next season, it seems the best is yet to come for UPJ baseball.
Win or lose at NCAA regions, I would like congratulate this years team members and coaches for this success this season. I would also like to point out to local high school baseball players that they should not rule out UPJ as an option. We are fortunate to have some very good college baseball right in our own backyard.
