Visited, and got an offer from PSU today. Most likely PSU recruits him as a safety.

Listed his top three (in no order) as Notre Dame, PSU, Pitt.

Greensburg (Pa.) Central Catholic wide receiver, Nick Sukay, picked up a long awaited scholarship offer today when he visited Penn State.

"The Nittany Lions offered and overall the visit went well," said Sukay. "I spent about four hours there and the highlight was going to the top of Beaver Stadium. Looking down was simply amazing."

More big news from Sukay. He has narrowed his choices down to three lucky schools.

"Penn State, Pittsburgh and Notre Dame are my final three schools. I am going to visit Notre Dame this weekend and Pittsburgh sometime next week. Hopefully I will make a decision in the next two weeks."



My gut feeling: Notre Dame.

Well I certainly hope he chooses Pitt but what a honor/difficult decision for a local kid: Pitt, UPS & ND! Not an easy decision. Ranked # 2 prospect in Pa., here's a finger crossed hope that the Wall is fortified. Talked to a coach who attended the Elite Combine and reported that this kid literally stood out and was clearly best athlete there!!! GL to the young man wherever he attends!

Kid gets pretty dang upset w/ PSU....

Kid FINALLY gets PSU offer

Kid IMMEDIATELY set decision date & names Final 3....

Getting a lot of signees early can hurt your recruiting class down the road. Notre Dame is throwing all these letters out to all these kids all over the country. It is ridiculous how many kids in the Rivals 100 have Notre Dame listed on their short lists of schools they are considering. Only problem with that is that you can only offer so many scholarships. So all they are doing is setting themselves up for kids getting pissed off at them. They are putting the idea in all these kids heads that they really want them. ND has a very long legacy and is the most prestigious program in the nation. Everyone wants to play at Notre Dame. So if you keep acting like you are super interested in 500 kids, and then only offer 20 of them, what does that make the other 475 feel? No team in America goes out and contacts that many kids and leads them on like ND is doing right now. 500 kids cannot go play for Notre Dame.

I like the way Sukay is making his decision though. I hate it when it is 10 days till signing day and a recruit has 7 schools still in the running. All that does is have a lot of school wasting money trying to get the edge recruiting and he disappoints all but one school.

No way in h3!! is getting a lot of really talented signees early going to hurt your recruiting class down the road.

Recruiting is a tough & oft times cut-throat business! Re. the # of Rivals 100 kids with ND on their short list - this is certainly a good problem to have. Let's say ND has 6 D-Lineman interested from that group of 100 and the talent difference is marginal. Then in July a D-End & a D-Tackle accept offers. Now hypothetically, if ND was targeting only 2 D-Lineman and no one else at that position "on board" was can't pass good, like the # 2 or 3 rated player in the country, then yes 4 kids considering ND are left out! Are they going to be pi$$ed? Perhaps but as all recruiters tell kids, in one form or another "we seriously want you @ our university but are recruiting others at your position"; so in essence a first come first signed policy exists.

It may well create a good norm in relationship to ND. That is, so many kids are interested that they may sign early to avoid being left out in #s game! And ND does not get "dragged along" by certain recruiting battles, finishes recruiting earlier & earlier every year enabling them to focus on other things!

A lot of those top players DO drag the teams out to the last minute though. They have 5-6 schools on a list until 10 minutes before they decide. Getting early signees can also help get more on board too, but stringing kids along also can create a lot of kids hating Notre Dame. Maybe NAVY or RICE can sweep those kids up, who knows.

I know every school sends out obligatory letters to players all over the place, but with ND being listed that high on the list for kids all over the country, that leads me to believe that they are doing more than just showing a small amount of interest in those form letters. I'm not saying I'm right here, its just an idea.

You started out criticizing ND for early signees now your dig @ them for "dragging kids out"???; which, by the way, is exactly what they are not doing!! It is the Nitwit Pretzel Logic major striking again!

How 'bout Fla Int, Youngstown, Temple or East. Mich getting the leftovers!
