Poor Temple.

Post by The Ancient Enemy »

I picked up the Athlon Sports preseason college football magazine, and it seems like it's business as usual for the bozos over at Athlon. I basically only ever buy this magazine because its the first one to come out and I cant help myself when I see it. Athlon is famous for making some pretty bold predictions, none of which usually make much sense. But whatever. I like to get info from a few places before I make a guess about a team.

Our beloved Owls are ranked 119 out of 119 according to Athlon Sports. That's never good news. They have about 7 or 8 kids competing for the quarterback job, and are replacing all 4 starters up front on defense. They have lost 8 straight games to MAC teams since 2001, but there is hope on the horizon: Temple plays the 117th ranked Buffalo Bulls (still looking for Jesse Jones on that RB depth chart) on August 31st. New head coach Al Golden is coming from a UVA program where he actually did do a nice job, and recruited some pretty good defensive players in his tenure there. He had some great quotes about Temple this season, this being the best one: "There's perceptions to break. But I wasn't here. I didn't go 0-11 last year. End of story." Wow, coach, do we have as much confidence in the players as we do in ourselves? Sheesh.

Dag nabbit Tae,

Don't tell people that Temple is worst team in country! They are our rival and we have them scheduled thru 2099 with 92 of those games being in Sappy Valley and one in Phlly!

yeah well what about pitt's rivalry with the citadel? or how about with every division 1-aa, II, III, and NAIA team in the country? maybe if pitt schedules division II, III and NAIA teams, they would be bowl eligible...

Retro, Retro, Retro,

Calm down a little son! It is clear you need a lesson on future schedules but that is established and will be touched on again in another post!
For today a recent History refresher should suffice! You make the statement: '' if pitt schedules division II, III and NAIA teams, they would be bowl eligible..." well.....let's look @ last 6 yrs , shall we (that's '00 thru '05 for the math challenged)....

PITT - 5 Bowl Appearances Nitwits - 2

Any other points to discuss!
