no hockey in pittsburgh over 5 million$

Post by D-nice »

looks like hockey is showing how stupid it can be over just chump change once again instead of losing an entire season of hockey and gazillions in revenue over a few million each side wanted to squabble over. now hockey may be making an exodus out of pittsburgh because the group headed by mark cuban and dan marino is 5 million less than some dude from hartford who wants to move the club to kansas city. in pittsburgh you have a proven fan base that shows up even when the penguins stink.and for the ownership to sell out(literally) for just chump change is absurd and asinine.

I saw that today...what a bunch of crap! Especially since the building blocks are there to have them return to being a pretty good team possibly. This would be nice for the fans since the Pirates stink so bad. Pittsburgh always responds to a good product.

I agree with you both, but 5 million bucks is still 5 million bucks. Whether or not it is a smaller drop in a the bigger bucket, that's still a lot of money. This could all just be a ploy though to get more money from Cuban and Marino.

What I find most interesting is how the Hartford area was screwed and all want a team again. So a guy from Hartford... buys a team... and moves them... to Kansas City!!! Sound like both the Pens ownership and the Hartford dude are both off their rockers.

I dont understand the Kansas City thing... when there is expansion in pro sports, KC gets brought up real quick. Have you ever been to Kansas City? It is not the El Dorado of the midwest, especially not the hockey El Dorado. I was under the impression that the NHL figures for the southern franchises are not that good. Why take another team from a northern city and move them to a place where hockey should NEVER exist, i.e. Dallas and Miami and Phoenix? Sure, KC is technically a few feet north of St. Louis on a map, but c'mon. You can't tell me that a hockey team is better off in Kansas City than Pittsburgh.

Dont the Packers have a 500 yr waiting list for tickets? There are more people in Richland than there are in Green Bay. Put the effort into building a franchise, hire a coach worth a dang. There are good players on that roster. Hockey is the least watched po sport in America, no one really cares about it. I would think you are better off in a place like Winnipeg or Hartford than a new city like Kansas City.

i absolutely agree TAE, kansas city is nowhere for a hockey club to be. they are putting an effort into building the franchise with crosby, and now malkin coming over from russia. and the current head coach (if i could spell his name i would, lol) is a great coach, he just needs some time to put his system in place.
Character cannot be developed in ease and quiet. Only through experience of trial and suffering can the soul be strengthened, ambition inspired, and success achieved.
