County basketball on the radio

Post by foghorn »

Does anyone know what kind of radio coverage county hoops will get this year? Is there a chance two pairs of broadcasters could cover games like in football this past year, or isn't there enough interest?

Plus, who will the announcers be? Edwards and Topper? What do people think of the job they do? I know Topper's area of expertise is wrestling and football -- I love the way he calls matches -- but the man knows who has heart and who doesn't, no matter what the sport is. Edwards can do good play by play when he doesn't get caught up in giving anatomy lessons. I especially like the positive attitude he brings to the mike. I know he's a pro-Everett guy, but hey, Topper's always strong on Bedford. Sometimes I feel Ridge doesn't get as much coverage as it should, but in football this past year both Edwards and Topper had a lot of good things to say about the Lions.

There is nothing like a Topper tirade about the snake pit in Westmont or other places.

George was terrific . When he was alive and broadcasting, we took him for granted. But I agree -- he was special -- and to be fair, a hard act to follow.

And you're right -- a stoked up Topper is priceless. Pure entertainment!

Anyone know if the Everett Radio station is going to broadcast any winter sports? They did football this year and it was a big success.
