Re: Windber's Defense
not only is it the westpac, its bv, shade,cv, and ns. I saw windber play ns, and i saw Richland play BC. Windber wouldn't beat either of those teams.
Re: Windber's Defense
winber plays in the weakpac and no matter how good they look in conference play whoever represents the weak pac in the playoffs is gonna get destroyed just like every year

Re: Windber's Defense
backer53,
Not defending Windber here, but let's compare the playoff results of last year's Single A representatives from the LHAC, Bishop Carroll, and from the WestPAC, Windber.
Class A Champion Southern Columbia was 34 points better than Steelton-Highspire (41-7) while Steelton-Highspire was 16 points better than Bishop Carroll (36-20).
Southern Columbia was 31 points better than Duquesne (50-19) while Duquesne was 18 points better than Windber (18-0). By the way, Southern Columbia gave up 3 TD's to Duquesne while Windber only gave up 2.
Based on those results, and without having the opportunity for the two teams to play, I would say that the WestPAC representative was every bit as formidable as the LHAC representative in the playoffs.
This topic comparing the WestPAC to the LHAC is becoming as absurd as the private school recruiting topic. The WestPAC is primarily a Single A conference while the LHAC is primarily a Double A conference and the two should not be compared just as the private schools should not be faulted for operating within rules that are provided and enforced by the PIAA.

Re: Windber's Defense
You might be interested to learn that the Windber junior high team plays a LHAC schedule. Last year they were 7-1 with wins over Johnstown, Central, Somerset, CH, and Bishop Carroll. Their only loss was to Westmont on a hook and lateral play in the final seconds. This year they have beaten Kittaning and Bishop McCort handily. I'm not saying they would be over or under .500 at the high school level, I'm just stating a fact. It's easy to put down the WestPAC, there are some really small schools in there who struggle just to put a team on the field. I advocate a WPIAL-styled area conference, but that doesn't look likely to happen any time soon. One final statement: whether you want to believe it or not, Windber, with the possible exception of Bellwood, over the past ten years has been the most successful and consistent single A PUBLIC school program in district 5-6. And oh, yeah, they have a pretty good defense. Now I'll shut up.
