Well, was this expected or what????

Post by Coach »

Now, last week I caught some flack for stating in the Pitt something to the effect of, "Nice job by PSU fans not jumping in and ruining this thread, etc."

Now, Pitt just won a conference game on the road to move to 5-1.

Instead of a thread about their game there are several PSU threads. Were they started by PSU fans? Just take a look at the messages the last two weeks or so and look how many times there are posts started with anti-PSU people just ripping and ripping and ripping.

All these fans that aren't PSU fans are watching their game and rating their QB. They are watching and making comments on JoePa, etc. To me it is funny that people would rather root against a team than root for their own favorite team.

Pitt and Penn State both got lucky in their schedules for 2006, because a lot of Big Ten teams are garbage, and a lot of Pitt's foes are having terrible seasons. Both the teams (Pitt and PSU) are going to end up looking better records-wise than they really are. Neither team is going to win 1 game on their schedule that they should not win. PSU: Notre Dame, Ohio State, real tough game versus Michigan. Pitt: MSU early in the season, Rutgers, WVU, Louisville. Penn State's offensive line is atrocious and they better be glad Tony Hunt is the Beastmaster and gets 1 yard instead of being tackled in the backfield every down, Morelli is still making mistakes and the line sure as hell isnt helping him fix them, and Pitt looks like a team that is gonna get blown out by both Louisville and WVU if not alos Rutgers. Sure 5-1 is real good, and boosts morale, but that team is not very good. PSU and Pitt are lucky that most teams they have on the schedule this year are even more clueless than they are themselves.

I didn't mean to start a thread on schedules again... just wanted people to notice how much of what goes on is brought on by Pitt fans.

Schedules should always come up. You're only as good as the teams you play.

Thanks for pointing that all out to us in a special thread coach, that was important.

Did it ever strike you that maybe the PSU game involved one of the most controversial calls of the weekend and people were going to comment, pro or con? Also tough to start a thread on the Pitt game when it wasn't even on TV locally, it was kind of a yawner and nothing major happened.

Schedules....both teams schedules are below average this year and pretty equally below average I might add and AE is completely right, it doesn't look like either team is going to win a game they shouldn't win. They just better both try and avoid the upset to an inferior opponent.

PSU will end up in a better bowl because of the TV weight that the Big 10 carries and they have the best bowl tie ins in the country.

The Pitt game was on locally.

I usually talk about the Pitt game with my friends that are Pitt fans. I don't always bring up the games on here. I mentioned the call in the PSU game because I knew it would get the Nits all fired up.

You wanna talk Pitt, let's talk Pitt. I thought Pitt did a great job of dominating that game from the get-go. They controlled the line of scrimmage on both sides of the ball.

Tyler Palko managed the game beautifully. He has completed close to 85% of his passes over the past three games.

Larod had the type of break-out game he is capable of having when the o-line gives him a little daylight.

Pitt may have found yet another weapon at wide receiver. Red-shirt freshman, Cedric McGhee had a nice game filling in for Derek Kinder when he went out with a slight concussion.

Overall, a good road win for Pitt in a building where they traditionally struggle and where Syracuse nearly knocked off Iowa a few weeks ago.

I think its funny you went out of your way to point this out to every body especially since most of it isn't true. You got to love it, "just wanted people to notice how much of what goes on is brought on by Pitt fans". What about the Texas, Ohio State, and West Virginia fans who ripped the hell out of your team, QB, and coach this year. Don't they count towards the Anit-PSU crowd. They have been just as vocal or if not more vocal about your team. I forgot though, its all Pitt fans doing. For someone who doesn't care about Pitt or their fanbase you are really sensitive to this subject.

When PSU was going 11-1 last year and Pitt was struggling, PSU fans didn't pull any punches towards their comments about how bad Pitt was. If you can dish it out you better be able to take it and you obviously can't take it.

The only reason why I saw any of the PSU game was because Arkansas and Auburn had just ended. I don't really like watching mediocre teams play terrible teams. The only thing I really saw was the bad call at the end of the game, but it showed how good PSU really is.
