PSU and Pitt are EQUALLY average

Post by Former Wildcat »

I wish the two teams could meet so everyone could stop whining back and forth. As of now, PITT has scoreboard on PSU from a few years ago. If they played this year, it would be a close game because both teams are average.

PSU fans argue about their three losses to top 4 teams. Keep in mind they should have a fourth loss to a great Minnesota team - who a week later was beaten by Wisconsin by 36. I would not think about the bad call, except that PSU fans seem to remember every time their team was hurt by calls and chalk those games up as wins. Reality is that PSU has truly beaten only 2 Division 1-A teams this year.

Pitt at 6-1 is great, except their 1 was to a team that is 3-4. I watched MSU against my Buckeyes last week and how any 6-1 team could lose to them, I don't know. They were awful.

Here is the bottom line: Pitt and PSU are both average!! They are always average. Yes, PSU was 11-1 last year, but that was an abberation, not the norm. Heck, every average program has a good year here and there. Maybe Pitt will be 11-1 this year. The programs are still average.

As a lifelong Buckeye fan, I just sit and laugh at this pathetic argument about two AVERAGE programs.

Wow, how quickly we forget the following:

1. National title a few years ago on a terrible call, shown w/ evidence in ESPN the magazine.
2. PSU and OSU from a few yrs back in Columbus, how many terrible calls went against PSU in that OSU win?
3. How many 3 pts-or-less wins did OSU have for about 2 straight seasons? I guess all those calls were fair, too.

My opinion on PSU this year...

They are like BOTH Michigan and Tenn of a year ago. We'll see what happens in 07. I know it is always next year, next year with some people but I am not that way. I just know that their home schedule, experience, and opponents experience add up to PSU being a real nice team next year. It will be a long wait, but I'm enjoying watching this team grow up weekly. I thought they could be pretty good this year, but they haven't come around against the stiffest competition. I still think they play on New Year's Day in the Outback or Cap One bowl against a nice SEC team. If they can finish with 4 or less losses, they'll also be ranked.

Coach, smart post. I won't rip you.

D-nice, terribly moronic post. I have been an OSU fan since the mid-80's when I was a little tyke. Thus, I am not jumping on the bandwagon. OSU has been one of the top programs in the nation during that time. Thus, they are not losers.

I think the real issue here is that you are too stupid to come up with a response, so you resort to name-calling. Very mature.

Ancient Enemy, you at least attempted a smart post. The problem with you is you - like most Penn State fans - got caught up on officiating. I find it interesting that it only happens when bad calls go against PSU (unlike the Minnesota game). I honestly don't remember the officiating in the game you refer to except for a possible pass interference penalty on Penn State's final play on 4th down. Had the penalty been called, PSU still would have had to drive 70 yards against the best defense in the nation. Not likely.

What I do remember from that game was OSU holding Larry Johnson to negative yards rushing in the second half. Did the officials help with that?

I do not claim that all calls are fair. However, PSU fans seem to whine about them more than others. In the OSU-Texas game earlier this season, Texas scored their only touchdown after a terrible roughing the passer penalty. That is part of the game and OSU went right back down the field and scored. Because of JoePa's obsession with officiating, PSU would never have responded with such resolve.

Hey I got this email this morning from the NCAA. I guess Wildcat didnt get one.

"Hello, college football fan. We regret to inform you that because you are a Penn State fan, you somehow have no right to gripe about bad officiating. All other programs (118) are allowed to be upset, but you are not. We apologize for this nonsensical inconvienience."

Hey... its easy to see why an Ohio State fan would hate on Paterno and PSU as much as he can. All Paterno did was get instant replay in the Big Ten, which was the frontrunner for all of college football. Good thing Paterno didnt complain before that OSU-Miami national title game, how about it, Wildcat?

Yeah, but PSU fans completely forget that bad officiating gave them their '82 NC...Wonder if JoePa would've wanted instant replay then?

By the way, has anyone seen Mike Guman's uncle? That official was PSU's MVP that championship season. Great catch McColskey! Too bad he dragged his feet 3 yards out of bounds.
