Stop The Remakes!!

Post by Weapon X »

This is kind of a random thought and "FEMALE DOG", but can Hollywood please put an end to all these remakes and ill advised sequels and prequels we are seeing in movies today. Whether its the thought of seeing an 100 year old Sly Stallone reprise his role as Rocky Balboa or whether its when I heard they were remaking the 80's classic The Revenge of the Nerds, thankfully canceled, I just got fed up and had to say something. I love the Rocky movies, but hasn't Rocky V already tarnished the series legacy enough. The worst part is I know I will go see it in hopes of it being good, but will be disappointed. Some are good, but in most cases these seguals and prequels do nothing but put black eyes on movie franchises. I didn't care what happened before the Original Texas Chain Saw Massacre and The Exorcist and I don't care whats going to happen to Taj from Van Wilder. I can't watch the Terminator now without thinking how bad Terminator 3 was. Go ahead Hollywood, ruin Indiana Jones and Rambo by coming out with those talked about movie sequels. Thats all we need is a 30 year old Short Round running around.

Movie remakes and movies that used to be tv shows are just as bad. I loved the original Posiedan Adventure, but they ruined that by coming out with a horrible remake. How many times do we have to see Freaky Friday or King Kong before we get it right? And did we really have to bring Miami Vice to the big screen? Come on we know only Don Johnson can play Crocket.

I know this is long but one last FEMALE DOG. Can we please stop releasing a new version of a movie on DVD every 3 months. Why can't they just come out with the directors special extended millium cut of a movie instead of going through all those incarnations of the same movie. How many versions of Superman 2 must I buy. There should be free upgrades of dvds once you buy that movie. When a new feature comes out, you send your old model in and get the new version back for free.

The one i'm looking forward to is Rambo IV.

"John Rambo has been living a secluded lifestyle in Bangkok and salvaging old boats and tanks for scrap for twelve years."

Rocky Balboa will sure be painful to watch, but this...this is going to be something spectacular!

I'll have to admit. I am going to go see the new Rocky movie. I hand it to you, Rocky V blew majorly, and it tarnished the series slightly. I saw in the previews of the newest movie that Rocky is actually going to fight, whereas in V he was just a manager. I saw he was getting back to the basics of his training. I saw in one clip he was poundin' the beef in the meat locker. Don't tell me that along with the theme song won't rekindle old memories and send chills up your spine. I know Stalone and producers are getting to the point of milking this series, but I hope it doesn't suck. If it sucks it will definately tarnish the series forever. But, on the other hand I only watch I-IV anyways.

i heard the new rocky movie is good... but the reason they keep coming out with remakes is because they keep coming out with more special effects tech. so they have to make a new movie with more explosions and whatnot to please the audiance. actually, if they wanted to make money, they'd make movies like finding nemo....

Looks like we are in store for some more great prequel, sequel, and remake news. Another Hannibal Lecter movie is on tap for us this coming February. Although it is written and based on Thomas Harris's new book in the series, I just think enough is enough with this franchise. John McClane is back for some more hard core tomfoolery in "Live Free or Die Hard". We just cant let someone ride off into the sunset and die now adays can we. And Rob Zombie is planning on remaking the classic slasher movie "Halloween". Can't wait to see that. Honestly, why does everyone want to go retro and bring back heros and characters from movies of a decade or more old. You know what, Chevy Chase is still alive we might as well make a prequel to Fletch, "Fletch is Born", and while we are at it sign Micheal J. Fox up for "Back to the Future 4: The Search for Doc". And since we are in the mood to destroy classic movies with crappy remakes how about a remake of "Fright Night", directed by Fred Durst. I love Hollywood.

I still haven't had the chance to see the new Rocky movie yet. Is it good and will it change my opinion of sequals and remakes? I hear it is an apology movie for Rocky V. Even Stalone hated that movie. Its not that I think every remake and/or sequal is bad, I just feel some movie franchises are better served the way they ended and/or don't need revisioned by a new director. By the way, big screen adaptions fo Get Smart and Magnum P.I. are on their way. Here comes some more explosions of cheese.
