An Out~look on Girls Hoops In District # 10 {Erie}
Well, With only about "two" weeks left in the season, what is the playoff picture looking like for Mercer and Lawrence Counties?
CLASS (A) Farrell, or Kennedy?
CLASS (AA) Sharpsville, Mercer, Wilmington or Reynolds?
CLASS (AAA) Hickory, Slippery Rock, or Sharon?
Also from Mercer County, don't forget about Lakeview (undefeated in their region up North).
CLASS (A) Kennedy Girls may not make it at all. This would be detrimental for Pasci, this being her first year. Farrell is always tough. Farrell and Sharpsville still have another league match up before it is all said, and done. The first match up, Sharpsville was the victor, but Farrell played without Keveeda Myers...a huge power forward/scorer. If they can contain their emotional level, I look for Farrell to win the second match up. Their offense is their strong point.
Lakeview has a missing top scorer going into the playoffs. I dont see them going into Best of the West play...{Erie is a powerhouse}.
Even their "500" teams can beat top seeds in (AA) and (AAA) play. I am definitely thinking a cinderella story with ANY district #10 team. Slippery Rock has the most discipline. I feel they have the best chance.
In CLASS (AAAA) The New Castle High girls basketball team hit a milestone Thursday night.
The Lady ’Canes claimed their "16"th consecutive victory, setting a school record, in downing North Hills on the road, 72-35, in a W.P.I.A.L. Section #3-(AAAA) contest.
In addition, New Castle came in as the No. #1 ranked team in Class (AAAA) as recognized by the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. It was the first game played by the Lady ’Canes in the history of the program with the top ranking. They were previously No. #2 behind Oakland Catholic.

The Lady ’Canes (7-0 section, 16-0 overall) raced to an early 22-8 lead, fueled by an 8-0 run to start the game and the victors were never challenged.
“This was a good way to start the second half (of section play),” Grybowski said. “We played hard from the get-go and we were able to play a lot of people a lot of minutes.”
Jaleesa Sams poured in a game-best 27 points to go along with 15 rebounds and 10 steals. She was 11 of 18 from the floor as well.
Logan Hartman followed Sams’ effort with 15 markers, while Shelby Rodgers chipped in 10 points off the bench. Ryenn Micaletti tallied eight steals and five rebounds, while Abby Allen registered seven steals and five steals.
New Castle was 25 of 58 from the floor, compared to 14 of 34 for the Lady Indians. The Lady ’Canes turned the ball over just 13 times, compared to 30 for the Lady Indians.
Juli O’Connell, Gabrielle Marshall and Tara Veverka netted eight points each to lead the Lady Indians (0-7, 4-14).
