Scores - Surprising or otherwise

Post by voncap »

Thought it would be good to start a thread where throught the season everyone can posts scores and comments. Not really necessary to post every score, but if someone finds a final score a surprise/intriguing this is the place to post score and comments about score.

I will get the ball rolling.
1. McConnellsburg 50 Tussey 47
Zimmerman didn't play because of being tossed from last game, but says alot about the Titans depth or lack there of.
2. Tyrone 64 Indian Valley 62
With Indian Valley being mentioned as one of the favorites in AAA this has to be a mild upset. This result should make Tyrone a team to watch in the AA field
3. West Branch 85 Williamsburg 64
Granted game was at WB. Was told West B. had a decent team and a big win against a better than average Willyburg team may be an indication.
The easiest thing to do in sports is hustle.

Blairsville over Homer Center for the second time already this season last night 60-49 after also beating the Wildcats in the Tip-Off tourney finals. Blairsville defeated Penn Cambria in the tip-off semifinals. It appears the Bobcats, despite their youth, may be "the team" in the Heritage. Of course I'm sure Ligonier and perhaps even Homer will have something to say about that as the year goes along.

Did you know that Blairsville beat Homer in the finals of the HC Tip-Off Topurney by 30+ points???

The WPIAL boys' has been full of upsets so far...

AAAA...The #1,2, and 4 teams already have losses

#1 Penn Hills lost to Hempfield 58-57 (Hollidaysburg plays at Hempfield in teh next week or so...should give an indication of how the 6-2 PIAA team will do this spring)

#2 New Castle lost to Perry 66-53

#4 Mt. Lebo lost to Ringgold 58-56

AAA...#3 Hopewell lost by 17 to AA #3 Beaver Falls by 17

AA...#1 Sto-Rox lost to #5 AAAA Char Valley by 20 or so, but don't forget: Two of the Roxs' thugs were suspended for this game due to their show at Hershey last year. Also, #2 Quippa lost to North Hills by 1, yet beat AAA #4 Blackhawk by 1 last night WITHOUT REVIS and another good player!

A...#1 Sewickley Academy lost 2 in the Shaler Tourney

Should be interesting with a lot of parity in the WPIAL in all classes this season.

Hurts for your PC Panthers Titan, they lost to (A) Blairsville in their opener. So much for them being able to challenge in (AAA).

Blairsville--AA

Post by zonebreaker »

Blairsville is AA in basketball; the smallest AA team these past two years in district 6. They are very young but could make some noise especially at the end of the year. They play Ligonier Valley Thursday night.
