Soccer is quite certainly a sport.
Soccer requires refs, scorekeepers, and, most importantly, shoes. Nothing more is required to prove that soccer is a sport.

It breaks your heart. It is designed to break your heart. The game begins in the spring, when everything else begins again, and it blossoms in the summer, filling the afternoons and evenings, and then as soon as the chill rains come, it stops and leaves you to face the fall alone.

u might wanna check ur info there 'mang.' Pele had a sponsor that bought he and his team shoes and socks but after playing like one game they ditched the footgear becuz they couldnt get a real feel for the ball like a barefoot allows for.
I think it is legal 2 play shoeless, I know in the NFL kickers have kicked barefoot, its not soccer I know, but a professional sport nonetheless.

anyone that would play barefoot nowadays is insane, at least on the pro level, i love playing barefoot, especially on a beach, but pro, they have 1 inch "bladed" cleats that leave marks when ur wearing shoes, theyd cut rite thru u if u were barefoot
and whitey has been doing his research, pele and his team did indeed kick off their boots in the middle of a practice, theyd never worn shoes and hated them, but after a while they got used to them and started to wear them all the time just to get the feel for them

I stated why soccer is a sport, someone tried to disprove it, sack and i proved them wrong... what more do you need?
anyway, to make this more relevant to soccer being a sport, i think soccer is a sport also because you have to be in good shape to play soccer. (yeah lame i know, but puts this on topic)
