2007 District V Track and Field Championiships this Wed...

Post by Coach »

What should be the best events and who will win the team races? I'm excited to see what people will do come Wednesday. I think the better events will be the boys' disc, girls' long jump, girls' jav, and boy's shot... I just think there are some really close contestants in those field events and it should be pretty interesting at each of these.

i would say that the team race will be between widge and myersdale... as much as it pains me to say so, ridge really has a good team this year....

When are the seeding times going to be released and who is going to publish them?

I think the boys 800, 1600 and 3200 could be the best races at districts this year.

freak, i don't think it's so much that ridge's team is exceptionally good it's more that other teams like bedford who have been dominant are having very bad years.
as for the competition...boy's 3200 relay will be the best race if everyone brings their A game because there is no clear favorite. And the pole vault will also be interesting even though it's not something where your competitors will push you harder like in a race.

Sorry...meant to do this last night but some computer glitches. Also keep in mind final seedings may be slightly different because HyTek system will differentiate/convert hand to FAT times as per PIAA rule.

Complete seedings should be available on the Official PIAA District 5 T&F website by noon today. This will include all entries and "heat sheets"

Districts went well on Wednesday night. What locals do you think will place at states next weekend?

Go to the Dist. 5 Track & Field Webpage for a great photo of the Donaldson vs Podlesnik 800 meter showdown that may go down as the greatest race in D5 history in any event (Or is it still the Terry Croyle/Kirk Heath 1980 Tie in the 3200 meter???) Dist. 5 has by far the three best male distance runners in the area this year (I'm including Snyder of McConnellsburg) and all should medal at states. Pod and Snyder could go 1-2 at State and it wouldn't be a shock to see the D5 order reversed.

http://www.midatlanticsports.net/d5track.htm

There are several other athletes who have good medal shots. Tomovich(LJ), CR 4x1 relay squads, Webb(HJ), Houck (TJ), Crawford(TJ), S.Snyder(both hurdles), and Harris(LJ) come to mind but don't count out Smith in the 100, Gilbert in the Shot, Valiton in the 100 either.

D5 is particularly strong this year in Jumps, which they have been historically, in addition to the 400 and up in boys.

Brough from Ridge, Crawford from NB would have easily qualified in M-TJ and W-LJ if they were geographically located in District 6.
