Pecora majors Bennett
Richland's Marco Percora major decisioned Westmont's returning state champion Zac Bennett, 12-2, with the majority of the damage being done from the top position.
Bennett had previously been out with an injury of which the details were not disclosed. However, it can be assumed that conditioning was a factor for Bennett who had yet to wrestle a match this season and perhaps he is still ailing from the reported knee injury.

Re: Pecora majors Bennett
From what I hear bennett tore his acl during the football season..but its hard to believe that he would wrestle on it right?
Re: Pecora majors Bennett
I want to see a rematch. I think bennett was out of shape and it was a fluke. Im not saying pecora isnt a great wrestler but i dont think he will dominate like he did in this match

Re: Pecora majors Bennett
It is certainly possible to wrestle with a torn ACL, but there would be some weakness in lateral motion. And I think that may have had an effect on this match. Not to mention conditioning.
Obviously, if Bennett would opt for surgery, he would miss the entire season. But I would expect a wrestler of his caliber to rest the knee all season and then come back for the post season.

If Bennett wasn't ready to wreslte, he shouldn't have wrestled. Pecora wrestled his match, and for future purposes, they should look at how Pecora took it to him. Stayed out of the ties, used his quickness to keep Bennett off balance, shot sweep singles, then controlled him from the top position. Smart decision to stay off the mat b/c of Bennett's sick cradle. Hit Bennett in a turk, then came across with a crossface and turned bennetts hips to pick up 2 sets of nearfall points. Sadly, we won't ever see a rematch again if Pecora is able to drop to 171.
