Not true Hollywood. It is a great day for TM football not a terrible day for NBC football.

Re: District 5A....pathetic
footballfan1: "But Dist 5 has 2-3 teams that could compete every year with the top 6 teams in Dist 6 single A. Now, I said compete not beating them. I dont see anyone bragging up Dist 5 I just am seeing folks justifying what Dist 5 is doing comparing that to what some other districts are doing in football playoffs. Dragonfanz I agree a 3-6 team making playoffs is not a good thing. Why all the bitterness towards dist 5 though my man??"
I just have a few questions and insights on this quote from footballfan1 on page 5.
Who are the 2-3 teams every year? I'd say 1(Windber) that would be in there most of the time, but I don't see 2-3 every year.
Why do you think there is bitterness toward D5? I think that it is the fact that there IS a 3-6 team in the playoffs. If you look at the records of the teams in D6, you wouldn't find a team with more than 2 losses.
There are 8 teams that compete in D6 every year. And each team has a pretty good chance at taking the title or at least giving the winner a run for their money. In D5, you can pretty much gurantee that Windber will win unless they decide to stay at home or in the locker room. That is why so many people have an issue with D5.

Let me try and answer your questions Flak...
"Who are the 2-3 teams every year?" This year, unfortunately their is only 1. Last year their were three...Berlin, N.Bedford, and Windber. It will fluctuate, I would save on an average 2 D5 teams could compete with the top six in District 6.

Look at the AAA division once....Johnstown had a losing record and gave Bellefonte a good game. If your talking Single-A only then come back on here next year and say the same thing...dare ya! Under next years plan 3-6 Glendale would have been traveling to Bishop Carroll to open Dist. 6's 16 team playoff so watch where you throw stones.

Bull......United and Conemaugh Valley, no disrespect...nice teams, but not great teams, had NO chance this year. Beyond that it could be argued that S.Huntingdon (defense wasn't that strong) and J.Valley (inconsistent) probably didn't have a legit chance to win it either. Either of those two could beat the elite 4 on any given night but would not/could not win three in a row IMO. Next, Did Windber stay in the locker room last year? They were at home when #6 seed North Star upset them. They were the #3 seed and even if they had won that game it is doubtful they would have won two in a row over quality teams NB and Berlin....so much for your guarantee. I will admit it will take a major upset this year. If anyone can do it, it would be a Meyersdale team that has played very well in the second half of the season in this weekends Semifinal.

Roadie... good post... BUT...
You are comparing apples to oranges here to try to make a valid argument. I was talking about D5 A(single A) since they have a ton of other schools that class in the area. "AAA" has it's own issues that I will mention if the thread ever comes up.
United gave Portage a good game. And both Portage and Conemaugh Valley beat the teams in the D5 playoffs. The reason they had "NO Chance" is because the top teams are that much better. So basically you support my opinion since you said the teams that beat the D5 teams had no chance in D6 playoffs. And as for the Windber situation of last year... yes they did and NS took full advantage. We could sit here all night and talk about one time samples, but I'm talking statistics here. Not one year, but the history.
How can you possibly not pick Windber(which is about 1 male away from AA, and twice the size of everyone else in their playoffs) every year for the title?

It is football the best game out there! It is just like College football, there are good teams everywhere! Not just in one league or district!
