Re: All-Time District 5/6 Team of the 90s
Are we talking team of the 90's who went on to play college ball, or just team of the 90's? Lots of good players never went on to play in college for various reasons.
Names that stick out in my mind, though I'm not quite sure of when they all played.
WR - Joe and AJ Nastasi of Northern Bedford. Joe was state player of the year and went to PSU. AJ went to WVU. Also will throw in the mix Brent Kaufman from CR. He was first team all-state. Can't remember exactly when AJ or Brent played.
RB - Jamie Eichelberger of Everett. Was the state player of the year. Imagine that D-nice. State player of the year two years in a row from little Bedford County. I can't imagine the shame the people of Beaver County must have felt. And Bill Benbow. I would not list him at WR.
QB - Ryan Emerick of Ridge threw for over 2000 yards his senior year. Again, not exactly sure when he graduated. Someone on here help me out?
Dline - Josh Baker of Bedford. Was all-state.
LB - Jeff Koontz and Dan Caro of Bedford. Bedford has had some really good LB's over the years, but these two stick out most from the 90's.
Don't mean to lean towards Bedford. It's what I know best. Just throwing names out there. I'm not so good at remembering the names of other teams players, I only remember things like FH QB's and WR's causing us pain, esp in the playoffs.
Any kids from Altoona, Hollidaysburg, Portage, Windber?

Re: All-Time District 5/6 Team of the 90s
good point Analyst
Brent Kauffman and Ryan Emerick both graduated from CR in 1992.
Jamie Eichelberger graduated in 1995 I believe from Everett.
Bill Benbow was by far and away a better all around player than Artrell Hawkins in HS.
A few more additions... from Bedford...
Mike Marshall graduated in 1990 great athlete with size, speed, and agility
Greg Washington same year I think averaged 10 yards per carry that year.
Keith Williams also from Bedford same year in the same backfield as Washington. Another great athlete went on to play MLB.
BTW...that 1990 Bedford team (89 season) IMO was the best team I ever saw in the area. The Williams and Washington backfield is without parallel and along with Mike Marshall and Jim Benbow and a host of other great players it was a crime that this undefeated team didn't get a chance to play for a state title.

Mike Marshall played at IUP and got a long look (made it to the final cut) in the pros (NY Giants I think).
If you don't know where you're going, you'll probably end up somewhere else.

marshall and caro had really nice careers in Arena Two ball............

What happened to Josh Baker? Former Tribune Democrat Defensive Player of the Year. After one term left Shippensburg.
Re: All-Time District 5/6 Team of the 90s
Jim Benbow was the best lineman I played against in college. His linemate went on to a fairly long career with the bears and then a few others. Not sure what happened to him, but he was tough. When he locked on you were going for a ride.
Another guy that was tough was the RB from McCort a year ahead of Hawkins---smooth, long strider.

Re: All-Time District 5/6 Team of the 90s
You guys are out of the 90's now, so you'd have to include QB Steve Taneyhill (Altoona/South Carolina/NFL Europe), and Troy and Brad Benson both All-pro Altoona products, Mike Reid, and one more from the 90's,- Jon Condo -P-O- Cowboys and currently with the Raiders I believe.

What ever happened to Jon Condo? Never did play much at Maryland. Claim to fame was as a long snapper in college. Did supposedly try out at Dallas. What happened?
