Re: Cupcake schedules
I watch a decent amount of PSU games and I thought otherwise, but you guys know your team better than I do. Thanks for the info, Ham.

Re: Cupcake schedules
I've heard both sides of this argument with both having great points. But that coming out last year after the Michigan game all but made me decide that he's still very much in control of what goes on in that program.. and a big reason as to why PSU hasn't been successful to the level's they should/could be attaining with the talent they get there year after year.

Re: Cupcake schedules
Uhhhh, revised game plan vs Michigan last yr.?? No TD's & 9 total points??? And the 9th straight loss to UM????

Re: Cupcake schedules
According to the University of Buffalo's www site, they are scheduled to play Pitt on September 17, 2011 @ Heinz Field (Steeler's Stadium). I would imagine this is because of the ACC's raid on the Big East almost ten years prior to this date.

Re: Cupcake schedules
So Iowa and ND on the schedule last year for PSU is a slight. But when Pitt has them on the schedule 3 years from now it's a boost in the scheduling. Wait until Buffalo has a few good years, vman will be proclaiming how Pitt scheduled them because they're tough, and how they're trying to do the best all the time.
I love how one man can cut on the Big10 3 posts ago, and then uses a Big10 team to say how amazing Pitt's OOC scheduling is. It's really baffling.

Re: Cupcake schedules
Baffling...let's keep things in context.....we are talking ooc schedules & now you attempt to blend them(as in UPS playing Iowa last yr)......ND was a part of your ooc schedule last yr w/Temple , Buff, & Fla Int ( again #'s 117 thru 119)
In 2008 Pitt indeed plays 2 Mac's but they also play Iowa, ND & Navy. And yes, in 2011 Pitt plays Buffalo but already has Iowa & ND on it's ooc schedule!
But I will certainly give up here...again if nitters are okay seeing one real ooc game every 2 yrs & playing 3 Fla Int's/Temple's then so be it! And please spare me the "we play in the mighty big" 10 cop out...we've seen numerous conf rankings the last 3 yrs where the big 10 is ranked 3rd, 4th & 5th & often times behind the Big East! And when OSU, Mich & Wisc/Iowa are tough you lose to them anyway (evidenced by Joe's winning percentage of 20% vs top 10 teams and 16-37 versus conference foes that finished the season with less than 5 losses.)
And don't tell me everyone schedules all cupcakes there Curley! Just a few examples this yr.,in addition to PITT:
Georgia plays: @ Arizona St. & Geo Tech
USC plays @ Virginia, Ohio St & ND
Oklahoma plays: Cincinnati, @Washington & TCU
Florida plays: Hawaii, Miami (Fla.) & @ Fla St.
Oregon plays: Utah St., @ Purdue & Boise St.
Oregon St plays UPS, Utah & Hawaii
Fla. Atlantic (a program much more formidable than Fla Int who Moe & Curley scheduled last yr.) plays: @ Texas, UAB, @ Michigan St. & @ Minnesota
UCLA plays: Tennessee @ BYU, Arizona & Fresno St.
Colorado plays @ Colorado St., West Virginia & @ Florida St.
North Carolina plays: @ Rutgers, Connecticut & Notre Dame
You know what they say in the barber shop...NEXT!!

Re: Cupcake schedules
When we had this argument a year or so ago, didn't Penn State play 9 bowl teams, or something like that?
ONCE AGAIN... do not start this garbage about the OOC schedule until THE SEASON IS OVER. You keep saying "they played 117, 118, and 119" last year. First of all, Western Kentucky is the 119th I-A team, and they aren't even I-A yet. Secondly, Temple won 4 games last season and showed a hell of a lot of progress. Florida International just got a new coach in 2007, and they are still terrible. Obviously they're a cupcake. Buffalo is doing well enough that their coach is the top non-BCS coaching target in the whole country. You know why he is? Because Buffalo turned the corner already, in his 3 or 4 years there. They did not finish the season "ranked 119". And neither did Temple.
Vman, you're another knucklehead who gets sucked into this preseason crap. Those magazines are compiled by people who are no smarter or wiser than you and me, buddy.

Re: Cupcake schedules
Vman is sucked in by no preseason rankings! BTW, according to final Sagarin rankings your '07 boiz got worse actually!
170 - Fla. International, 135-Temple, 115-Buffalo....avg ranking 140!!! Again, nothing to do w/ preseason mags or whatever.

Re: Cupcake schedules
Since we are all in love with the Sagarin rankings, let's all remind each other that Pitt finished next to last in the Big East in the 2007 Sagarin rankings. Just imagine if Rich Rod had not thrown that game? Where would PItt had finished then?
