A lot of times the all state teams in any sport are very political in who is selected.

Last year Tracy George from Windber made it on the all state basketball team and probably wasn't one of the top five players in the area! She was a good player but not all state!

I remember when Galishynski(sp?) lead the state in scoring with around 36 ppg and was 3rd team all-state and there was another kid from around here that got 2nd team, can't remember who though. Gali didn't goto a school with a name so he didn't get it.

yeah i definitely played against Francisco every year since 8th grade...he was awesome as a sophmore...a threat as a junior...but absolutely terrible as a senior...he was still a hitter...but too slow and immobile to PLAY linebacker let alone be an ALL-STATE linebacker...i agree he shouldnt have gotten it...Suter however made all state linebacker and he deserved the nomination he was a force

A and AA teams are still to come, it will be interesting to see who politiced(is that even a word?) their way onto the teams this year.

While I won't argue that politics aren't involved in decisions like these, but some guys I believe actually played their way onto teams like this,Stephens and Kozak are 2 good examples from the AAA ranks, and when the A and AA teams come out Kelly (BC) and Tate(TYR) should be there to prove my earlier post about Shannon,Kelly, and Tate being head and shoulders above area linemen. If they aren't I may be beating the political drum myself.

I agree eagle. Tate is the best lineman I saw this year. Didn't see BC play so can't comment there.

Kudos for Stephens and Kozak making the AAA all state.

There is no doubt those 2 should be there but the OL from Somerset? I don't know about first team material there.

Tell me there are no "name recognition" things going on when Andrew Hawkins makes 2nd team all-state and went down with an injury in week 6 or 7! That is an absolute joke.

Others making it for AA this year were Giles(CC) at LB 2nd team and Tate(T) made 2nd team I believe.

OK,here's a little drum beating.2ND team all-state is an honor for anyone.BUT,there isn't a person on the 1st team AA that could handle Tate 1 on1,most on the other teams couldn't either.Maybe because he is an underclassman,or maybe because they didn't make at least the west final. At least Terry has another year to prove he is second to none upfront.
