I think Tennessee got what they deserved. They dumped Fulmer despite a Nat. Championship and consistently good teams, then hire Kiffin after what, a 5-15 record with the Raiders. And what did they get, a 7-6 record and 6 minor recruiting violations. Nice.

There is just less and less loyalty from coaches to universities and vise versa each season. We are lucky our favorite programs do stay loyal. Pitt could have easily dumped Wanny a few years ago when they were yet to make a bowl in his tenure but look at where the program is now. Coming off their first 10 win season in 3 decades and are a favorite to win the Big East next season. Penn State could have easily dumped Paterno at the beginning of the decade (and they tried to) but he turned it around to have the 7th best record in the nation in the second half of the decade. Look at teams with stability all through sports they have success in the long term (yeah there may be some bumps along the road). A perfect example of this is the Pittsburgh Steelers they are on their 3rd coach since the 1960's and they have transferred that into becoming the most successful team in their sport.

Tennessee is a great job and they have great fans and athletic department. In the end I am happy about how this played out. Tennessee deserves better than Lane Kiffin and USC deserves Lane Kiffin.
