Re: Going from the hunted to hunters?
Isn't this so par for the course? Pitt being awarded RETROACTIVE titles, first national titles and now recruiting rankings? Where have we heard this before?
Crimson, you cannot gauge those rankings retroactively. The classes are ranked by the services on LOI Day, and thats the end of it. PSU has had dozens of 3-star (or lower) kids who have gone on to be great football players. Does that mean PSU's class ranking changed? All this stuff is done by human beings who are not always as unbiased as they should be. Pitt's problem was never a lack of talent, it was coaching. Now, they have better coaching and everyone is saying they are the top program in the BE. Nevermind that WVU sucks now, and Cincinnaiti lost their head coach, which quite a few BE programs have had happen when bigger programs come calling.
But hey, I guess if I was the hottest girl in Portage, I'd be proud too.

Umm? Hardly your boy Herb wanted to go into recruiting rankings and got schooled saying Pitt doesn't have top 15 talent. And What do you think if Rivals had Penn State ranked lower then Pitt instead of Scout.....You guessed it Herbie would be singing the praises of Scout of course. The dude is arguing every little thing to death.
I personally have never been a fan of recruiting rankings. I'm more into where he got offers from and productivity in College. Scout and Rivals are guesses but for the sake of arguing with Kirk I had to dip my toes in that water.
I think you guys are missing the topic of the argument, never once did I say that other teams don't get no namers that turn into All Americans. What I was saying, Kirk based his whole argument that PSU has better talent then Pitt off of recruiting rankings. And me the logical one stated well the obvious, Pitt had higher recruiting rankings for one, and two Dion And Romeus were not factored into those recruiting classes. And they happen to be Pitt's two most talented players. Which brings us back to the point of mine that states Pitt has more talent then Penn State. And we arrive at the fact. Pitt has out recruited PSU 3 of the past 5 years, got 2 no name recruits to become All Americans along with it. So by my estimations Pitt has more talent then Penn State, call it a crazy notion, but I won't. Kirk would you like to just respectively disagree or try to make more invalid and sad arguments helping out my case.
And another thing, you said how does Pitt go out and get recruits with

Bill Benton a 4 Star Recruit on Scout.(Rivals, too) picked Pitt over Florida, Nebraska, Penn State, Oregon, Wisconsin among others. Now those teams have better attendance then Pitt. How does that happen?KirkHerbstreit wrote:Basically, that's where there going to be most years because it's hard to convince a kid to play at a stadium with no atmosphere.

Re: Going from the hunted to hunters?
Oh Crimson you are such a rookie. The only person looking bad here is you. You claim that I brought up recruiting rankings? I think you better look again. You brought up recruiting notions and Pitt being ranked top 15. I posted Rivals rankings in which Pitt finished 26th, 28th, 33rd, and 47th. You want to believes Scouts or whoever's is higher at the time. I've always followed Rivals rankings because to me they are the most legit. You would think with Scout's recruiting rankings Pitt would be in the top 10 every year or being able to win a conference with Powerhouses such as Cincy and Uconn. It is an assinine argument though. I'd rather be arguing with someone from a school who has been relevant in the past 30 years.
Congrats on Bill Benton though. By the sounds of it, he must have no interest in being in the national title hunt. I probably wouldn't count on him until he signs his name on the dotted line though. I take committments this early from 17 year olds with a grain of salt.
Here is some re-ranking for you

Now run along Crimson I think your mom is calling you for supper.

First off, Nice way to end with a insult. Thats usually my little way of signing out, I like how you incorporated something of min into one of your posts.
Kinda like how incorporated my argument I brought up in the previous post and tried to spin it off as yours, I said you picked Rivals because PSU is higher then Pitt(yea yea after the fact try to explain Rivals is more credible, thats nice) But you went out and said the same thing about me and Scout. Come on dude lack of creativity indeed. Use your own ideals. I wanted more of a challenge then this

Re: Going from the hunted to hunters?
Haha alright I have no idea how you "normally" end your posts or sign out. Generally, I don't pay attention to much that you write because it's all based on you being a homer. Plus, I have no interest in reading about the Best Bishop Mccort high school football teams of all time. I graduated a good while ago from high school and don't still live in it.
And as far as me using the same argument as you, I skim read your post. Basically every thing you write is the same, so I read the first sentence and the last. I assumed the middle content would be filled with a bunch of nonsense. Looks like I'm right.

Re: Going from the hunted to hunters?
Penn State has the most talent in the nation. There is no doubt about it. They got stud DL and LBs. Royster is the greatest 3 star recruit of all-time. Newsome is going to be awesome. I love Penn State. Scout rankings didn't include how fast Zugg was gonna be. Joe Paterno has built a wall around the Northeast. 42,000 people are saying that Green is the best 2nd string running back in the country. I went to Bishop McCort and played in the marching band.
