Based on what info? Maybe WPIAL TITAN needs to get his list out again.

Take that article with a grain of salt. I think you actually have to commit a murder in broad daylight to get arrested at LSU if you are an athlete. No way that athletes at Penn State are as shady as SEC athletes.

El-Moldo wrote:That's about 4 or 5 times now (including the title of this topic) that you mentioned Pitt is #1. Nice try, but over the years PSU still leads Pitt in all time rankings in this department.
And how many times has Titan posted the same list in a thread. I basically said it doesn't bother me one way or the other regarding this. I just think it's funny to see tables turned on Pitt fans

Also, as far as comparing over the years I'm not sure we can. Of the 22 arrests Pitt had this year, how many did you hear about? I'm going to say maybe 10, so there were 12 arrests or so that we had never even heard about until this article. Obviously, they keep there info pretty well hidden which they probably have done over the years.

....It's a fact that the number of criminal acts in a big city is larger than those in a smaller one, or a rural area. The main reason is a population issue. In a big city, there are MORE people in a denser area. In a big city you have more people of different cultural and moral backrounds. Therefore, big cities have a higher chance of murders, thefts and criminal acts. They also have more different types of crime.
....Going back to that list of rankings of schools which lead in crime, the schools ranked right behind Pitt were Iowa, Arkansas, Boise State and Penn State. Certainly schools in big inner cities have a greater chance of having problems with crime. But what about the 4 schools that were ranked right behind Pitt? They were ALL rural schools or small city schools. Doesn't anyone find it pathetic that those 4 schools have a criminal ranking that high? After all, these areas generally have a much lower crime rate than in big cities. YET, the schools in these areas continue to rank in the top ten of criminal activity, even though they are not dense population areas. Instead of making light of Pitt's situation, schools like IOWA and PENN STATE should re-examine how much crime their students are involved in. Thank you.

Bullshit, moldo. College towns like the ones in Iowa, State College, Little Rock, ect. still have pretty strong police forces for the size of town they have due to the tax influx brought on by the university. Unlike "city" schools, however, these smaller towns do not have to deal with the number of murders, burglaries, gang activity, ect. as the bigger city police officers have to devote their time too. So if nothing else it would mean that these towns would have a higher law enforcement effort for the smaller crimes such as underage drinking, drug possession, disorderly conducts, ect. Either way, though, I don't care if it is a city of 1 million people or a town of 3,000 people the football teams all still have the same number of scholarship players so they all face relatively the same odds of finding trouble.

Nice try.

I'm tellin you. The 85 scholarship players have a greater chance to get into trouble in a big city than in a small city or rural area. It's just a fact. And what does "having a pretty strong police force" have to do with the temptations of the big city? I mean where would you find more strip clubs, Pittsburgh or Ames, Iowa? Where would you find more places to gamble or buy drugs, Pittsburgh or State College? Don't tell me that it is just as easy to find trouble in State College as it is in Pittsburgh. When scholarship football players in small cities or rural schools get into trouble, it is MORE of their own doing than those who live in the big city. In the big city, many time trouble finds you. Kids in small cities or rural campus's many times are the ones LOOKING for trouble.

Remove the rock you are living under. Do you really think that football players in State College would have trouble finding drugs???? If you can show me a correlation between strip clubs and criminal activity then maybe I will believe you that Pittsburgh is far more tempting for criminal activity. Are they going to tear down Rivers Casino because Pitt has football players in trouble and gambling is a center of it?

The bigger the city, the more trouble you can get into. Why can't you see that????? Sure in State College you can find drugs. But in Pittsburgh, they can find you!!!!! Are you actually saying that drugs are more readily available in State College as opposed to Pittsburgh? What about prostitution? I'm telling you, It is harder to get into trouble in State College, but the PSU players manage to do it YEAR AFTER YEAR. Players who get into trouble in State College are the ones looking for trouble in the first place.
