Scholarships
Re: Scholarships
....Amazing what you can discover on a rainy day, isn't it? Went to the BM website and decided to compare their roster from last years 8th grade team to this years 9th grade team. There are SIX new players on this years 9th grade team, who were not on last years 8th grade team. These six new players COULD be the result of:
....1) Kids who were in one of the 4 local parochial schools last year, and who did not go out for football as 8th graders, but decided to go out for the team for the first time this year as 9th graders.
....2) Kids who transferred to BM from other schools as 9th graders this year.
....3) Kids who received Bishop McCort LIFT Scholarships, who are basically attending BM for free and will now be playing football for BM, instead of playing where they were going to school last year.
....Just a thought.

Re: Scholarships
\McCort changed their website, still not everything seems worked out, but it looks good. Since you are the site's most frequent visitor, i'm sure it was changed to meet your needs. If you want to enjoy some freshmen football at the Point today, just let me know. Since it appears you have a personal interest in Bishop McCort Junior High Football. Personal Message me, we can sit together for today's game. Never saw these kids play before so I'm interested to see what they have. The picture shows they have some size.
Re: Scholarships
Don't have the $4 or $5 bucks to get in. Will see the results in tomorrow's paper.

Re: Scholarships
I've seen WPIAL AAAA frosh teams who could go 5-4, maybe 6-3 depending on who they'd draw, in the VARSITY LHACK...No joke.

Re: Scholarships
I've also seen some WPIAL AAAA varsity teams that couldn't win the LHAC.
Re: Scholarships
We all know AAAA football > LHAC. However, no freshman team would be a varsity team in LHAC. You could go PCC freshmen vs any bottom feeder and PCC loses big. Difference is the line. Now I'll give it to you in a sport like basketball, but not football, too physical a game. Top tier AAAA JV I assume would beat most LHAC football teams, but not freshmen
You are insulting kids for no reason.

Re: Scholarships
AAAA Football in general, easily. The numbers are so different.
But on most years....
Plum, Connellsville, Butler, Hempfield, and Latrobe would struggle to beat quality McCort,Johnstown and Forest Hills teams. Grant it, those are the bottom feeders of the WPIAL 4A on a yearly basis, but still....it would be no sure thing they would win the LHAC. Those teams suck. Would they beat almost everyone else, yeah absolutely, but I'm saying the best McCort,Forest Hills and Johnstown teams would beat those average 5 schools 7/8 times out of 10. Now if McCort had to play teams like Woodland Hills, Gateway, Upper St. Clair, yeah it would be UGLY.

Re: Scholarships
Titan does not exaggerate....it is that bad. Not only would frosh team from most AAAA and AAA WPIAL schools compete in LHAC, these frosh teams would out and out win the WEAKPAC.
....................it is THAT bad, especially considering that the WPIAL is a shell of its former self.
But now that we have Westmont and Conamaugh Valley consolidating (and we may get some COMPETITION) you never know. The state will be stepping in and mandating consolidation soon. Bye bye Ferndale, CV, Shanksville and at least half of the weakpac. County wide school administration is coming soon as well. Would save millions. Can't happen soon enough.
