I think you missed the point. The three backups are hurt. Never said anything about them being better. But that means nobody else on the team knows the offense from a QB's perspective. I do not think he is risking injury by turning around and sticking it in someone's gut. The one backup is done for the year. But I feel one of the other two should be back soon for mop up duty.

The point was that even if the backups are healthy, they are not better qbs, so if cooper goes down for the season, so do BM hopes and dreams of hershey. It's a blowout, put tweeter or billly bob out there , just dont risk your vital cog to a freak injury or cheapshot.

The limits of having 28 healthy players only allows you to go so far.

28 players or not, if you are up 42-0 you can get anyone out there to hand the ball off. One week it's ok for McCort but the next week not for Johnstown. BTW he was not still throwing the ball around. It started to POUR down rain with 8 minutes left and didn't stop. I don't recall them throwing with it pouring. I could be wrong but again I don't think the weather permitted any throwing at that point.

Also, there should be ZERO McCort fans in on this topic. They have year after year ran up the score, onside kicks, and all sorts of shananigans. It has been recounted on here many times. No need to go into it again, I just didn't expect any McCort fans to go anywhere near this one.

Moldy, you mean you came to JHS and didn't even try and sit by me? I'm crushed. I would have bought you a hot chocolate.

Did McCort run up the score Friday? Because maybe I have a different understanding of that technicality than some? I've never seen them do it. But if one person says it, than everyone else believes it. I've seen them hold back way more than I've ever seen than them run it up.

I know Simon wasn't throwing the ball weather was the exact same a couple miles down the road at the Point. I find it odd he was in there, mainly because he didn't play the entire second half against Guilfoyle. Johnstown has 60 players, they are sure to have a back up quarterback or two in there. Because somebody took the snaps in the second half against BG.

And McCort has backups, but they are hurt. I don't get why people find that so troubling. They scored 49 points on Friday, 42 in the first half. Cooper didn't throw the ball at all past the second quarter. I doubt kids like Cooper and Simon will get hurt by turning and handing it off. I feel the risk is very minimum. But just to get a kid some game experience for next year or if an injury were to happen would be valuable for Johnstown. I think it will all be a moot point for McCort because they have a very capable backup that led a few big drives in Bellwood last season and I think he should be back pretty soon. Sometimes you have to suck it up and play the whole game and hand it off to the backup running backs. its the cards they were dealt.

Just out of curiosity, what would be Johnstown's backup QB plan? They don't have a great running game to fall back on, everything runs through #6. McCort scored 6 TD's on the ground last week, and Cooper threw maybe 7 passes. I think McCort could survive losing Cooper better than Johnstown losing Simon. McCort had to use the wildcat a good bit when Cooper was out, I would have to think Johnstown would have to do something similar.

If JHS lost Simon they would not have their backup starting. My guess would be Watson would go to QB, and you would still have three outstanding receivers. I'm still not sure why Alkwan isn't playing RB. Anyway, it would be sort of the same as a few years ago when JHS qb went down in a playoff game and Xavier Thomas took over, not the listed backup. Some people, for whatever reason think the backup is sitting on the sideline when that's just not the case with Johnstown. Johnstown may have 60 kids on their team but after this year it is going to be a down year for JHS next year. Not an overall talented junior class.

Lastly, Ive outlined numerous times when BM has ran up the score, not going back into it. If you really are curious just look back in the archives.

Watson was my guess, too. Passing would go way down, but you don't have to be a great passer with their receivers, you can throw some lame ducks and they'll go get it. And I agree this Johnstown senior class will mark their last big run at Football and Basketball for at least 2-3 years, maybe longer.

I'm not going to get into the argument either, because we won't see it the same way. Like I've said I've seen McCort pull off way more than put on the gas in blowout games. So we'll leave it there.

Cooper, Varga, Belskey, Nate James, Barbin, Roman, Kinter, Spangler, Leech, Dubovi all starters and key components to them being 2-0 and they all went to Parochial Schools. Try again. :)
